In the plate/slings pic, is that a throwline loop at the end of the rope? If so,what's your thinking behind it mate?

Not sure on testing in Aus but 12 strands probably best for all in one srt setup. Try rope manufactures, chandlers, wire rope manufactures and tensile testers in your area, someone will know where to get it done.

Rock climbing belay devces i.e fig 8, BD ATC etc are fine, just back them as Dan said.

Lots of people climb on hand splices here (uk). Alot of hitch cord isn't ce marked, spliced or not, hence sold as accessory cord! Confusing ha! Is AP CE tested Drew??

Ive done had a srt foot loop which isnt whipped and hasnt budged... But i would probably if i ever used as hitch cord, as Drew said why not?? But as Jamie said LB constricts even under the lightest load! Whip it....lets face it its not hard going on icetail!
