  1. Understood. I was indeed taught it on the first CS31 I did; it's just that it wasn't mooted as the big deal it should be except since that day and both times by foresters!
  2. Must be a forestry thing: when I did my CS31 refresher a few years ago the forestry based instructor was almost paranoid about it

  4. That does look ace. I shall try to find an excuse to build a small version somewhere one day. What a great living wall it will become

Confucius he say 'man who has sexual problem wakes up in morning with solution in hand'
  6. Not the obvious answer of oak then...
  7. Pic 1; lovely winter context with the snowdrops 👍
  8. ..and make it a snug fit with the card, not a loose one; makes a difference to performance

  10. Understood Mark. I am not another bleeding heart, I just believe in fact-based judgement, not melodramatic perception. I'm quite happy with yours and others' descriptions of those to whom you refer 🙂
  11. Not all so-called gypsies are travellers; those living on fixed sites I've found to be so much closer to the rest of us in the way they live their lives: there's a hierarchy, the boss man being king - what he says goes. Some years ago I bought a lift trolley on ebay and had to collect it from a huge permanent site near Gloucester. The place was immaculate - the cars were even parked neatly and symmetrically. The guys there were very pleasant and easy to deal with and there was absolutely no attempt at hiding what was lying around the large yard or in the sheds, all of which were a hive of activity; I could have been in Wickes' car park! I'm not defending the all-too-common bad side of things or claiming that those guys were angels but it's important to maintain a sense of proportion
  12. Only in terms of numbers. In terms of physicality 'your lot' are ****ing terrifying and most certainly dominant!!!
  13. At the risk of incurring further stabbing wit from Khriss... surely a house of that tender age (1960s/1970s?) will have foundations designed to withstand the roots of a diddy little willow like that at 7m...? Aren't we supposed to be encouraging the growing of trees where possible? Personally I wouldn't be worried about it but I would keep the tree to its current size or thereabouts

    Arthritis

There certainly seems to be a connection with the blood; I know someone who was warned off turmeric because they were about to start a course of chemotherapy
  15. My knowledge of the whole sordid affair comes from what I've seen on the tele but I don't doubt the truth of it
  16. Not my experience at all Egger. Police don't even suggest the charges - CPS do that so it's certainly not the case of the latter simply going along with what the former want. Any cosiness between the two is PR: the CPS are seen as a pain in the butt largely. 'Throwing charges around in the hope of catching folk' hardly applied when it came to prosecuting Asian groomers did it!

  19. Short-term is a problem I agree. And those who most need to insulate their properties are undoubtedly those least able to do so, either because they're in rented or they simply can't afford it. There are some who could simply put on more clothes and move around a bit!
  20. Surely not - that's more fossil fuel. The less of that we use the better

  22. Needing to do everything BIG in the US a class action has just been taken out against John Deere over just this matter, the gist of the argument being that the current lack of one is an abuse of the virtual monopoly that JD have in the States
