    handbreak comes up to say 45 degree( this is a guess) the only time it came right back is after it shot backwards, hit my house and pulled the break cable, the break cable pulled the bottom of the break lever hence sending the handle away further back than usual. If it hadnt hit the house( i had 1 side chalked) it would of snapped the cable and kept going. as i said, trailer had recently been serviced and the trailer will stop the towing vehicle on a downhill when breaks applied with force. I ill get trailer booked in and get it tested after

    I do have my spoon ready CJ:biggrin: is there 2 adjustments for the brakes? 1 forward 1 reverse? My brakes are great forward and it had just been serviced when i bought it.

    Dean i wouldn't apologise, they say you must put chocks behind your wheels uncoupling up hill! We don't have to do this with cars!! The procedure is to let it roll back so it engages then chock! As far as I'm concerned that means brakes don't work in reverse.

    I would say it was the result of the trailer shooting back 2 ft with over a ton on it and horsed the lever right back as the cable didnt break. We often push the trailer about in driveways and car parks, when applying the handbreak while going backwards slowly, it will always stop.     My trailer had not long been serviced, i reversed down my drive. I put a brick as 1 side( only had 1 brick kicking about) i kept the cable n and wound the jockey, once off it shot round to the 1 side, the cable horsed the brake until it was tight against the trailer and it hit my house. i had a pallet of turf on it. well worth checking guys, if you have a spare bit of time try it.
