  1. Chap I know of used to handle them as part of his job and hobby. He was bitten several times but I don't think he had a bad reaction. His Jack Russell was also bitten. He was ok but he used to suffer nervous reactions for some time after.
  2. P fraxinea (I hope:001_smile:) A large ash of about 4' dbh.
  3. We need to be like jays. I usually pick a pocket full of acorns then when you go off for a wander just pop one or two in the ground.
  4. I doubt you'll find any. I always make my own. Just find some nice ash about 8 rings to the inch with the grain running as you want your hafts to be.
  5. Why have you ruled out Azara? Looks very similar. It may not have flowered for some reason.
  6. I'm not excluding fell and replant. Better to retain and plant some more as well.
  7. Don't fuel saws on the lawn or Tarmac.
  8. Ah. Was only looking at foliage. Can't really see the ivy clad one!
  9. Maybe because it's a big living thing that can't be replaced:001_smile:
  10. As quoted before; first one looks like cherry but need closer shot, holly for second and blue atlantic cedar third.
  11. The last shovelmaker and long gone now. Beautiful skills with an axe from an old guy in North America. http://www.folkstreams.net/film,299
  12. You can buy raw knives from Opinel but I don't think they're available here. Called Opinel Ebauche Les Opinel customs de Laurent GERDIL Some pretty cool carved handles.
  13. For anyone who's not seen these before. 10 Tree Roots Winning Their Battle Against Concrete
  14. From 1984 I've had all marques except Mazda/Ford. Every vehicle has some weak points etc but I've been happy with all I've had. Choose the one you fancy and tows what you need to.
  15. That would be good as long as the hay was cut from a proper meadow.
  16. Well it's worked to a degree. Certainly less itchy:thumbup1:
  17. I'm going to test that now because I'm spending my time scratching a cleg bite.
  18. Both mine had accelerator pump problems so rather than try and fix something that really wasn't going to fix I did the mod. Carbs were prefixed s126. I think the link gives a list of carb numbers. They are both around four years old.
  19. I have no idea. Very similar to oak in more ways than one. I had 30 tons of chestnut cord in the garden once. Even when it had stood for three years it was still wet when I cut it.
  20. They surely would be short of work:001_smile: I am taking the scythe to mine soon as all the flowers have set seed.
  21. You'll be glad you did.
  22. With two 200Ts running like the proverbial 'crock of' I thought it about time to do something. I did the carb mod http://masterblasterhome.com/showthread.php?14945-carb-repair-for-the-ms-200T Also opened up the muffler and the difference is amazing. Instant pick up, stays in tune and end of frustration:001_smile:
  23. Roots can't stay static. They are continually moving and growing in their effort to maintain water uptake. I suppose if it were continually pruned incremental growth would be reduced but not stopped.
