  1. Why would the LA have passed those initial plans? Better to have one less house in the development and safeguard the trees. Perhaps there's too many developers feeding money into the council coffers:001_smile:
  2. Local trees poisoned by doctor Tree poisoner doctor faces fines of £3,400 | Staff Newsletter
  3. Mine kept running on one cylinder until I could switch it off. Didn't sound so sweet:001_smile:
  4. I had a rod come through the side on a Vanguard engine. Well serviced etc so it was a bit of a surprise. Never looked for a cause...just one of those things I suppose.
  5. It rarely works. One party will end up feeling short-changed. Offer him a price if you want it and charge him to cut the grass.
  6. The nuthatch will wedge nuts into crevices to open them. Not seen snails wedged before.
  7. Nice one. Had pied wagtails in mine.
  8. A good soil drench of sequestered iron if lime induced. Are there any signs of Honey fungus as I saw one like that which was affected by HF.
  9. Perhaps lime-induced chlorosis.
  10. Looks like Chrondostereum purpureum.
  11. Looks like AJS Silver Streak 350 or 500? Some lovely machines you have.

    Tree ID app

No idea. I'll take a look. Had a look and I think it works from taking a photo of the leaf on a phone.
  13. For those who are able to comprehend these things a new app. Personally I ain't got a clue:001_smile: Museum launches tree identification app | Natural History Museum
  14. It's aphid damage. Restricted to plums etc and won't jump ship to the apple as far as I know.
  15. Spent a little time looking today. Sad to say that there are a few young trees with reduced vigour and thin tips.
  16. Have been looking around today. Most are breaking or have just broken here. Can't say I've seen reduced vigour or dieback yet. It's always variable in its timing so let's hope.
  17. Did a few winters planting so about 140 thousand. Maybe more. Haven't felled that many:001_smile:
  18. I'm with the above. Read lots of posts but don't necessarily comment and when I do it's usually cra% Learned plenty from yours and others posts.

If your truck's over 3.5t then it's overloaded even if you're under your train weight. I was fined because one axle was overweight towing a mini digger even though I was under the max train weight.
  20. Spanish yew for longbows. Seriously though we have been and are lax with our bio control. Mind you that little bit of water that separates us from the continent is no hindrance to airborne spores etc.
  21. Lovely job. If ever my gf saw that I wouldn't get a minute's peace. Are you off to Chippenham with it? Any idea what it weighs?
  22. A copper/purple beech can be from seed or grafted. Those from seed can be quite variable in colour. To maintain true to type colour then they are grafted from selected clones but they are all copper/purple beech.
