  1. Vote for the Outlander
  2. You try this lark on arboristsite; they're fed up with the same old same old rhetoric so what?, you're going to try and spin the same old broken record here? PhD of saws and all that I do feel that these saws are very serious contenders in their class so Remember too; on paper statistics vs actual experience; recent example; MS461 purchased to replace 576xp; not as comfortable or good on fuel but works! 576 in the repair shop weekly; same with 560xp. It's not all about kW/kg. See the PS5105 torque figures in the KWF tests for starters; hands down the best 50cc'er...
  3. Hell no!!! Don't even suggest that - borderline verbal arson that. I have PR and clean larch. The former chip is sold thru the correct routes for biomass / chip boilers. Roundwood haulage and on-site chipping are well established by the likes of Forest Fuels for thermal treatment and subsequent burning. I am not selling PR larch for firewood - LET ME MAKE THAT VERY CLEAR SIR !!!
  4. Either wait or travel but get the 461.
  5. Feel bad! You shouldn't! You did the right thing, keeping your cool too. Never let them near the yard I reckon; last thing you want, customers or unsavouries knowing where your stock and kit is...
  6. Thank you. Someone else who speaks sense.
  7. As effective as wind and mist?!! Suggest you write to FC, Tilhill, Euroforest et al then with your theory / discovery  Honestly, don't make comments like that until you know what you're talking about! Millions of tonnes of infected larch have been hauled around the country since it kicked off in 2006/7.
  8. Wish you'd asked that a few months ago! Had 2 loads of 3.7 clean larch that I let go for a song as it wasn't mill grade (or risk of rejection grade anyway). Reckon haulage from tamar area would have been £500 for an artic... Ooh, thinking about it I have 200 tonne of larch on the radar - not seen what size it is yet but will keep in mind... You did mean larch? Got a bit of DF that's oversize for processor... Very likely to have an 8 wheeler of that by the end of this week altho there are others interested - bidding war!
  9. agreed, gotta go 3/8 on a 560/562
  10. tbh don't think we're going to be cutting bars as can now get £25/metre for chip; 3.1m bar 14cm+ tdub (max 40cm butt) JL (PR) £24.00 per tonne thanks, Jon.
  11. "looking to ditch hardwood"; same here - softwood is the way We're £28/m3 roadside for semi-seasoned processor size; £25-26 if it's a bit uglier; xport varies on distance in 10 mile increments but £35 sounds v reasonable yo Larch is the favourite by far followed by DF (df nicer to process but larch seems to get snapped up)
  12. I have 3-4000 ton of PR Larch coming up; haulage per artic load to glos will be about £400 (32m3 / 26t)...
  13. Thread title says 461, text in op says 441 Go 461 for a 20" with 25" option - perfect.
  14. Out of interest (and ignorance), why not softwood?
  15. Brilliant
  16. Jo-Beau or TP100 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn1seCGG1xw]Jo Beau M500 pro-chipper / woodchipper - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk0cCLWerac]TP100 Mobile/20 km/h wood chipper - YouTube[/ame]
  17. Try to avoid that option; you end up in bed for weeks keep doing it; the aim is to eliminate hand contact with the wood at any time. Seriously tho, the body doesn't like twisting and bending 45,000 times a winter
  18. Are they the only good brands then?
  19. Husqvarna 242XP, Sachs Dolmar 166 "The Bull", Sachs Dolmar 133, 143 & 153 McCulloch Pro 10-10 et al, Echo EVL Twin
  20. Got a TP 760 if you're interested; not that pretty and needs a chute - pm for more info.
  21. Thanks for this but 95VPX is semi-chisel and I can't stand the stuff; have only ever run full chisel and find semi a pita to sharpen (just used to full I guess). Upping to 3/8 I think and go 72LPX
  22. Makita Reps I have a Dolmar PS-5105 and the exact Makita equivilent (DCS5030) and I can tell you they ARE NOT the same!!! On the "lovely little dolmar" thread I have mentioned these too, namely 1)different carburetor, 2)different air cleaner, 3)different muffler, 4)different recoil 5)different b&c combo new And it's #1 that is radically different; the dolly has the "red-power" carb and the Mak a n other. The dolly outcuts the Mak surprise surprise...
  23. Yeah, was discussing that one earlier. Apparently a escort van front coil spring is the perfect fit between the rear axle bump stop and, er well the flat piece of steel... Hmmm, how does that fix?
