  1. But Dolmar has the pedigree, Makita doesn't in the woods. Makita can make the best blinkin' saw you've ever known but I STILL DON'T WANT ONE!!! Hello Makita?! Comprende?! Dolmar make your saws for you and you insist on the UK having your name and livery? I grew up with Dolmars, I want Dolmars! (toys out of pram lol ). That means I want it in dolmar name and livery. Yes.
  2. DCS5030 / 5031. Just can't deal with the blue (plus it's got different innerds). Only plus on the Mak is the standard starter, not the thick easy-start rubbish
  3. strange, I answered this post and now it's disappeared 115 - old but very good Way ahead of its time.
  4. Well the PS5105 is off its head as per multiple other dolly threads at the mo! The 115i is old but brilliant design, so solid and a great performer; I had one and it was just superb, injection choke was a one off and worked ace but if it broke was a pain. I'll get another tidy one one day. Way ahead of its time in power output terms. Real character saw. I love echo saws because they are kioritz and a kioritz 2 cycle was THE best unit on the planet. Yamabiko merged echo and shindaiwa which is producing some interesting saws. How about this modded 550!!! [ame] [/ame]
  5. I fear the euro model might be down-tuned but I could be wrong. The USA stuff I get comes with a CAT muffler which should restrict it yet I ran it alongside a direct oppo Mak 5030 and the dolly was better, albeit very marginally. I went with the US ones mainly on price; they start so cheap out there that even with the shipping and import tax they worked out cheaper. The dealer out there has been absolutely superb so I'm sticking with them but I think shaveys one is a euro import via TCF when they did them; they don't anymore for some reason. Shavey - can you post a pic of your 5105 carburretor ? I will do likewise...
  6. Echo 420 is a good saw; very free revving, proper crankcase and will last forever. Which Dolmar you thinking of?
  7. ditto. Totally freehand sharpening yields the best results. otherwise roller but as above the rollers do wear.
  8. Nope, nothing is as powerful as a 560xp I think. But then a broke saw has no power anyway! The Dolmar will be working! Stilll waiting on it soz...
  9. 1) The US dealer I'm dealing with would yes but the cost and hassle of returing it is obviously a bit of a non starter/ 2) Got my doubts but you never know.
  10. something like this to fit on an excavator: http://deniscimaf.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/ewf_denis_cimaf_web_en.pdf?a026c3
  11. Think that's a 510 in the video. The 5105 has a little more grunt. It is not as light as a 550XP. I am importing them for enthusiasts; I say that latter word so that buyers understand they are not going to get dealer backup from just another enthusiast with a supplier in Illinois! That needs to be clear from the off. I have confidence that looked after, the dollys aren't hungry for parts and if desperate Mak parts will fit. My thread on here "lovely little Dolmar" gives some more info too. I have cut atleast 1000 ton (felled, converted) of larch, douglas and mixed hardwoods with my 5105 with absolutely no issues. I removed the spark arrestor within the first few tanks. It has the top end attitude and low end torque (KWF figures will back this up - over s & h) of a larger displacement saw and is very smooth. Torque wise it's like a H 357xp, top end sounds very nice and crisp. Someone wrote on my guidebar in blue lumber crayon after trying it - "little nutter"!. It is indeed by far the best softwood production saw in it's size; it rolls around the timber beautifully and pumps through hard pegs with no let up. I got shavey the 7910 - he'll reiterate his happiness with it I'm sure. The new 6100 is likely to make an appearance in my world soon! There are subtle differences between the Dols and the Maks; in the Dols favour. I am of the opinion Dolmar would sell a lot of these saws in the UK if they were here. Parent co Makita of course have to deprive us; fools. I will be posting a complete price list soon. I have owned both a MS261 and 550XP so feel my comments are substantiated.
  12. I reckon Shavey will come...20th good.
  13. Tis the only right and proper place for a meet. I'll go!
  14. Steady on, you'll be getting 3 infraction points like I did earlier!
  15. Would not pulling gaskets apart be a risk given they'd be a headache to replace? Bit like a car that's not had an oil change in 100,000 miles but runs sweet as a nut; give it and o&f change and it's knackered?
  16. It'll have a PHO on it soon and you'll have to clearfell it anyway!
  17. hell yeah! Don't rip it to bits tho; if it aint broke don't fix it.
  18. Can I ask - how did you get hold of Petemate390xp? I've pm'd, fb'd, got nowhere
  19. We 'phoned him 2 weeks ago. Said he'd send a quote. A week later I 'phoned to see how the quote was doing or where it was; really didn't get anywhere. Not got time to sit idly by tbh. Want to hear from others if there any anyway... We know he's got the rights to the DC EWF stuff which is awesome and he's waiting on parts and build price but how long should be waiting? I don't think within a week is unreasonable??? Correct me if I'm wrong... The EWF100 direct from DC was £60,000! not an option at that price; pm on its way!
  20. They've got postcards of the snow drift in there, helicopter etc. Soussons - indeed, Nick Cox for Euroforest; snatched from Tilhill after LTCs stopped.
  21. Trying to find a power pack around the 100hp range, 150L/min plus; plenty in the states courtesy of Denis Cimaf, Fecon et al but seem to be non existent in the UK altho Kingwell Holdings have a lump of one...? Any leads? Much appreciated.
  22. same again, add rubbish
