  1. What Spandit said! Our dry willow wood chunks flame for such a short time before making mad hot 'coals' it is not worth making charcoal. Other applications may differ but for on the BBQ or in a pizza oven they are fantastic.
  2. I have 3 or 4 3ft plants if anyone is interested. £5 ea plus Postage at cost. They are not frost tolerant at all but are good for bonsai I am told.
  3. Can't fault using the IBC flask as a 'roof'. Far better than tarps or plastic sheets as they dont get leaks and don't impinge on the wind flowing through the crate. And they are free!

  5. Facebook: Unless you pay for posts you will not have any success. White on White: AN ABSOLUTE NO NO. Hiding text or links in your content to manipulate Google is seen as deceptive and is a serious violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. Hidden text (such as keywords) include Using white text on a white background Locating text behind an image Using CSS to position text off-screen Setting the font size to 0 Hiding a link by only linking one small character—for example, a hyphen in the middle of a paragraph In all probability your site will now be blackballed and good luck with any appeal even if you fix the indiscretions. Consider the URL to be so tarnished it is scrap. I suppose the silver cloud is that you really must start again so as per last, get a properly hosted wordpress website with a new URL. It's not hard and lots of help is available on youtube. Last words of advice; don't let your nephew anywhere near the new website!
  6. I've had a look at the source code and, as others have said, the code is so far out of date that google will not present it to devices that cannot handle the older html standards. There are a few quick fixes you could do to what you have: Your home page is titled "Liz's Logs" and, as expected if you search for Liz's Logs you come up number one. Any other search including a location will be disadvantaged because you haven't told the search engines that this might be important. PL20 and Tavistock are mentioned in the home page text so they get a better placement but if you don't mention Devon you cant really expect the search engine to rank it - if you don't think it important, they wont. A suggested title for the home page would be "Liz's Logs of Devon - seasoned logs delivered around Tavestock and the PL20 area" Where geography is mentioned in the page it is highlighted by font size and bold. It should be in a heading to give it some importance above the rest of the text. Get a link from a related firewood suppliers website with the alt tag Logs Devon or suchlike. This will re-enforce the prime purpose and geographic location. If you check all the page titles for opportunities to better describe the important aspects of the business it will help but the bottom line is the mass of devices now used to access t'internet is hitting older websites hard. Best advice would be to redo it on Wordpress or similar where all the access device problems are continually addressed for you - you just add the content but most of the above 'clarity' still needs to be thought about.
  7. Sounds like you are involved with a tyre kicker at best or possibly a 'bad un'. The only thing you have in your favour is that you are still in possession of the (high value) goods. I can easily see a scenario where, if you pushed it, you might end up with no money and no skittles. Put it down to experience and spend the time and effort making sure your contract terms & deposit are a bit more clearer rather than loosing sleep over a numptee.
  8. Paypal itself is not a problem but you will need proof acceptable to Paypal that it has been collected by the buyer.
  9. Before you get in too deep with all that branding... register your .co.uk domain name. If it isn't available then start again.
  10. How does a home made trailer get type approval? Can't imagine they are exempt.
  11. Looking good. It will be interesting to see how it gets on in the woods
  12. It is a difficult one which we have wrestled with on a couple of our websites. We ended up using the actual RM rate so that the Highlands and Islands would always be covered. The real difficulty in small items is now the physical size limitations now complicate what was a simple weight calculation; eg a 500g item costing a pound can add £4 to the postage if it is over 45cm in length. The couriers are now following suit (Hermes changed last Wednesday). I thought your deduction button was a novel idea but would caution that very few people will be up to speed with the current complexities of parcel pricing. Please let us know how you get on with this.
  13. Looks like you eventually got the answer you wanted! Let's hope it is still for sale. Photos please
  14. But that is a risk for them both and, I take it, you have no certainty with either. Lower hrs must mean less opportunity for abuse and a smaller risk of poor maintenance? The real risk might not be that one might sell whilst you deliberate but both!
  15. Ditto. Best buy ever for aching joints
  16. Got the email yesterday and did the survey. The bit I could not find was justification for the number that they 'need' to recover. It seemed that it was a given and all the options were all about potential ways to raise it. I will be dropping off the list rather than pay. It has made no difference at all to business (other than add a small administrative burden). I suspect they might be in for a shock when they try and load all their costs onto those who remain. I fear for the 'self suppliers' who can be held to ransom. Doesn't seem right at all. Why not take it off the FIT payment then those who are benefitting from it pay proportionally.
  17. Yes - rivets presumably went through each spoke?
  18. I have found these metal hubs for wooden wheels. Looks like they are for a 1.25 inch shaft Should they be on ebay or in the scrap bin?
  19. Interesting; as will be how the ramifications of this pan out.
  20. You could start sharpening that and be out of your time before finishing it.
  21. Interesting. When BAe owned Rover, BAe company cars supplied by Rover were taxed as the benefit was that of the manufacturing cost of the vehicle rather than the retail price.
  22. Hi, I wondered if any one had an original 3 phase on/off switch that fits in the casting? Thanks, Mark
  23. Well done. It's been a good thread to watch with all the suggestions and help that has poured in. Always nice to nail it though; everyone likes a happy ending.
