  1. Chalara does kill very effectively regrow. One of the woods that I manage that was thinned three years ago, I have found one or two ash stumps with viable regrow within the compartment.
  2. Genetically Ash is very diverse, so there will be resilient trees out there, knee jerk sanatising felling will remove these trees. But at the end of the day they are your trees, and your choice.
  3. Ooooo, you beauty. Chysolina cerealis, like dry sandy soil and feeds on wild time.
  4. It is a good investment Mike, mine is still surprising me with what it will do.
  5. I have used it a number of times to justify trees lack of suitability for TPO order.
  6. The Tempo tree assessment might help. http://www.flac.uk.com/downloads/tree-assessment-systems.html
  7. It is still surprising me where it will go, and what it will lift And the best bit is i can move it on a trailer with the Land Rover. So while i have been working this site, i have been able to nip off and do two other small jobs.

  14. The 6100 is starting to fly Andrew. @shavey
  15. Its the Dolmar 6100. The hammer is a engineers hammer that i got from a car booty for 50p, and i put a longer handle on it from ebay. The shoulder straps make a big difference, you don't notice the extra weight.
  16. The curse of all foresters, butt rot
  17. Sorry not seen Bird box, hence my bewilderment.
  18. I am making a conscious effort to keep my thumb under the handle at all times, as i am sick of my EV telling me off .
  19. Yes and it went sideways on the first tree. But to be fair i was trying to get it to swing. I was more concerned about the flying branches as the tree comes down. Tall thin wippy ash can ping a broken branch a long way.
  20. ? Me no understand
  21. First of a few Ash tree.
  22. Almost Fungi! Slime mold, probably Badhamia spp.
  23. Thats an image Andrew, you standing next to the chipper with your old fella out measuring wood to decide what to put through the chipper.
  24. Something went wrong with the previous link, this one should work.
