Is the wood in 'Better woodland Wales, or Glastir'. Because if it is then there will be grants for access into the woods. If the terrain is bad you can effectively double your extraction costs, and you will need a winch. From what you are saying i would say that you might be better off walking away from this one, particularly as you have no machinery.

If you are getting it milled in-situ it will only take a couple of hours, so it will be their hourly rate x2. Or buy yourself a chainsaw mill and do it yourself !

This what i do to keep the kids happy when on boring woodland walks, but we call it ent spotting. First one to spot a face gets a prize, which is normally a stick !

The goblet with the wavy edge, was it turned like that, or were they added after the goblet was finnished ? Some goodwork there with interesting forms, well done.

A bit of turning from last night, and then tonight as the first one went wrong. Photo one is just before i cut too much off the middle and went right through (bugger). Tonights effort, pics 3 & 4 i bottled out and did not get it thin as i would have liked. The wood is still a bit green, hence why it needs to be thin to alow it to move. The platter is ash and finnished with sunflower oil to make it food safe.

I got £15 per m3, which was the best offer by about £9 per m3. Transport is the killer so try and find someone local.

Most PPE is available in large sizes, but normall to special order. One of my previous employer was simmilar dimentions to you and he never had problems getting ppe. If the timber had woodworm, bring it in in the house in small batches, and don't leave it lying around. Birch seasons quickly, burns quickly, and rots quickly, particularly outside, so it wont last long for fruit cages.

I have a chainsaw mill, but i wuld rather it went through a band saw to reduce the wastage. But if i can not find one then i will mill it.

Mine had a good day, almost caught a squirrel. Dopy mut kept going back to the same tree throughout the day to see if it was still there.

Who were the 'PROFFESIONALS' carrying out the demonstration dismantle from a cherry picker. They cut through the rope with the chainsaw. And if they had not, the branch would have had such a big swing that it would have probably hit the groundsman controling the lowering rope. On the plus side the demonstration at the stihl area was good, tha man was able to discribe both sides of the debate very well. The sausages were good, but not worth the wait. Now all i have got to do is wait for my new harness to arrive, one of the new fangled Hakkie ones.

My old 026 which is in bit is up for grabs. no sensible offer refused (plus a donation to arb talk). I have taken it apart 2 times to try and work out what it wrong, and i can't. i have now bought an ms261, which is not compatible. I am going to the arb show tomorrow so i can take it with me.
