  1. Can be problems doing it that way..Potential to load the 'biner the wrong way or the gate opening. Running bowline is the easiest way. If the limbs are light then a lot of people use "knotless" rigging. Girth hitching slings around limbs then connecting to rigging line using a krab
  2. Think most companies I have encountered have used a climbing assessment at interview stage and then a trial period following. One place had a pole for use with spikes.
  3. Found em to be pretty standard really. Good boots though, haven't had any problems
  4. Could be the combat look a like chainsaw trousers that were about a while ago.
  5. Webbing loop is for attaching srt gear to. Little loops on the legs for whatever you want. Used to hang my silky off it when I used the treeflex. Saw attachment is the middle one I belive. Is kinda made redundant when if like me you practically alway clip the saw up short using a caritool etc.
  6. You can get a groundy to hold the line tight for a few feet then it will be fine on it's own.
  7. Have to keep us informed. Maybe run a comparision, next to chipper flat out with and without extra foam. Be interested to know because is the only thing stopping me buying one.
  8. Think they are only rated to 27 snr. Not enough for chipping etc really. Read a few reviews of the ptotos and the ear defenders are the only gripe. Not sure how effective the extra foam idea would be?
  9. That all white one is just crying out for some stickers. Only thing stopping me getting one is the ear protection levels. To me wearing plugs underneath is a bit of a bug bear. Should be able to pop the defender and be able to hear the groundsman.
  10. All depends on your usual work.....Don't want to be dumping massive loads through a small portawrap etc. Second what Ian said. A set up like that will be enough for most situations
  11. If you don't like the vega then stay away from the tree flex. Is extremely light weight and the waist loop keeps slipping.
  12. Same here. Always bottom cut first.
  13. If you get a guy called Robin taking the course then take a pillow. Make sure you take advantage of the free coffee! He has a voice that sends you off to the land of nod. Did my first course there. Took it again recently in Blackwood and that tutor for that was loads better.
  14. Have the pfanner nexus and find them really good
  15. Cheers guys. Is what I was thinking but didn't wanna get it wrong and look a tool lol
  16. All you guys up on your fungi have an idea what this is?
  17. Can use both with the stein also.
  18. When on the lid they are pretty sturdy and held quite firmly. Not sure on the scratching....mine has been constantly minging with all the damp weather so haven't given it a right good cleaning in a while. Heard a few ppl complaining about it though.
  19. Needs to just contact western power. Will probably be Smeardon's who come out to sort it
  20. I don't use mine all the time. Stick to the normal visor most of the time. Is very handy to have on windy days etc when the saw dust gets whipped about
  21. Been using the kask lid since it came out. Have toyed with the petzls but didn't get on. As for the visor question. Can use both visors with the msa style ear protection without modification. If using peltor ones you have to lose the springs and the attachment lug. Use a craft knife to trim it flat. Visor still works as it should just not spring loaded

    boots

Have the arbortec scaffel xer and really get on with them. Know they hsd a few issues when first released but haven't had any of them.
  23. Lego technics unimog?
  24. Most ppl use the rope wrench or the hitch hiker. A foot asscender. Normally a hand asscender with afoot loop to make a rope walker system. A few use the unicender. Is like most things climbing related....down to personal choice and not everybody likes the same.
  25. What makes laugh is that they don't have to tie in. Is only if they want to. One slip and bye bye
