  4. thought i'd add my tuppence worth......have quite hefty coverage including hands/neck. Am a LA bod so not quite in the same situation as most of you. Most of the people i come across day to day don't have a problem with them. Get the odd dodgy look off older ppl but you would be suprised at how many come over to talk to me when im on the ground. most asking did they hurt tho lol. sometimes get attitude when we have to do work in schools
  5. im not sure how you boys do things but when i make a step cut i make the cuts switch the saw off and then clip the saw up high. then snap and throw the chunk. was told by my assessor that he would fail someone if they left the saw running and let it dangle, even with the chainbrake on. might be worth keeping in mind
  6. i belive its fact steve.....type a's are allowed as long as its justified on the RA-heat stroke etc
  7. i never did the training either.learnt everyhing on the job so to speak. take your time, make sure your work positioning is spot on.....there assessing that aswell. think twice cut once as they say.as long as your confident on your cuts then no probs. make sure you know the assessment criteria inside out
  8. yer normally its a case of throwline from the bottom or climbing up transfering from rope system to rope system. little trick tho is to have a throwbag with small krab attached so you can clip that into your spliced eye.makes it easier to get it over a branch

ive got the haix tibet forest.great for ground work and nice and comfy up a tree. im normally a size nine but my boots are an eight. it was a close call between those and the airstreams.
  10. ive got both-treemotion and treeflex. had to do a job in the treeflex the other day as the other was getting lolered. my god what a difference.....felt i was constantly fiddling with it to get it right.think im with mesterh in saying wouldnt recommend.
  11. hiah, where is the job mate?
  12. heres mine worn by me boy. i wear glasses so have to use a mesh visor. really like the helmet......get a bit hot tho.
  13. they mounted a load of lights up there with angle iron, half of which the tree had callused over. loads of nails/screws too.
  14. we did, customer had several shrub beds for it to be distributed on.:thumbup:lucky to because the only access was through a small gate. serious amounts of metal up there too.
  15. job from today. originally was going to be just a crown lift of the three lower branches. on closer inspection of the damage.(hard to make out/camera on phone) h/o was consulted on keeping-reducing or removal.chose the latter. we belive damage was caused by lightning strike 18 mnths 2 yrs previous.climbing was done by justin palmer(he is a member on here) and i was being groundie/2nd climber
  16. midland forestry still have a ad on the AA website. looking for people in bristol.
  17. beagles are very nose orientated. get wiff of sommat and there gone.....nightmare to get back aswell, havent got very good recall. guard your sarnies/lunch with your life. on the plus side though there faithful and loyal and they get alot of attension:thumbup:
  18. deffo euronymus family. i would say E. alatus aswell......photo taken up close and near to ground level?
  19. think im right in saying that certain knot terminations can cause up to a 35- 40% loss in rope strength? where as spliced eyes have to be tested up to 22kn? retrieval is the same as a normal rope but like atree said make the knot near the splice
  20. sorry.my mistake just re-read the post i took the pic from.the guy said that to fit both visors you have to attach/route the spring a bit diffirent
  21. ah gotcha.ive got a stein with the mesh.havent tried the other visor tho. can see how that would be prob....those visors aint cheap either!
  22. shot of said attachment.
  23. there was a thread on hear where someone posted a pic of a stein with mesh and the other visor atached.think he said all u have to do is take the spring out.
  24. as mozza said read that thread first........try and get a sit/play about in a range of harnesses because everybody is different.plus its a lot of money to get one and then decide you dont like it
