  1. nice, looked like a lot of targets there!
  2. haix tibet forest......excellent boot!
  3. maybe under the back pad,is the padding removable?
  4. i had the same problem with the leg loops coming loose.other thing i didnt like was the shackles......when out on the tips there would be a bit of resistance and you would settle into that posistion to cut.then there would be a jerk as the d ring popped over the shackle when you adjusted a little bit. yer the chainsaw attachment is in the centre
  5. that true enough....amount of times ive seen vans parked in supermarkets/garages with kit on the back and not chained on is unbelivable.some people have no sense, more often then not its not theirs so they dont treat it like it........la bods are the worst for it
  6. sometimes you just cant stop em tho. had a trailer go missing off site once.thought it was safe because it had a bulldog lock on it.all they did was wrap a chain around the frame and pulled it that way.
  7. the LA i work for is along the same vain.they cover a big area in one of the greenest counties in the country and dont even have a dedicated tree team. theres a couple of climbers at various depots they throw together to do trees. no rigging kit at all, some saws are 15 years old, only one tow along chipper on the whole council......could go on and on! best one is when i passed my cs38 i was using my own kit for 6mnths before they bought me stuff.
  8. as in ben daniels?
  9. hi guys can anybody recommend training providers near south wales?
  10. i belive its when you cut more than a certain amount.think its on the quantity of timber......allowed to fell a tree with up to 5 cubic m.any more than that and its felling license time. i might be wrong but im sure i read that somewhere
  11. you ever go to nelson then?
  12. make sure you try lots of diffirent setups though. diffirent strokes for diffirent folks, u might be able to get on with a vt etc:thumbup1:
  13. was lucky when i did mine because two of the ppl for the course didnt turn up and i could climb nehow.was a lot more time available so we did do several pole rescues each.
  14. yer there is winching involved in the 30/31 now.... theres also a knowledge section in the 38,involves first aid(spinal injuries etc) and a ident bit which i think is ten broadleaf trees
  15. hiah had a word with a friend. saftey tech' do have them in stock so just give em a ring.
  16. tom as far as im aware spikes arent part of loler because there counted as climbing aids(sure someone can clarify that?) the new nptc assessments dont start till jan so i think your bro will have to do pole rescues. as long as he can tie a cow hitch and an alpine butterfly he will be fine.your right about being able to choose at the moment, think you have to ask before hand tho.
  17. when i did mine there was no mention of a time limit, just have to be efficient and try not to waste time. the rescues should be quite basic. normally have someone through a fork and you have to drop through a separate one and go and get them.just a six wrap prus on the static end of your line, detach there system and take em down on yours.the other one is usually tie them to you and operate both systems on the decent. a pole rescue is a option aswell tho.
  18. lots of posts explaining techniques etc......nearly every photo contains the same tree:thumbup:
  19. just had all the havs testing in work.told us one of the best preventative measures is wearing gloves/keeping hands warm.
  20. the mother in law suffers quite badly with her hands.....had to have gold injections and all sorts. her fingers etc swell up and she can hardly do anything sometimes. hope you have a good prognosis if you do go to docs.......she swears by a drug called releflex
  21. yer thats self tending.when you dont have to touch the system to have the rope slide through.will get pics up in a lil bit
  22. its all bout getting the length of the legs right. you wont go back when you get on it. what setup have you got? need a spliced eye because a knot will interfere with your hitch.
  23. local stihl dealer in good ol wales....
  24. i couldnt get the vt to self tend no mater how hard i tried. changed to a diff hitch in the end. have to get weight in the rope then it tends.called a Schwabisch
