  1. What I'm getting at is that when I'm paying someone to work for me, I'm not paying them to talk to their girlfriend or text their mates. Bloke I sub for has a son that does this all day, and it winds me right up. I have a clear company policy now. It's a lump hammer with NAKIA written on the handle...
  2. BTW totally agree with Stevie's rescue from the ground - tension tail end of line on ground (fig 8 or even trunk wrap - this is an emergency!), cut/unclip hitch, groundie lowers. Although I would refuse to cut my Armor Prus in a practice!
  3. Mods - can we please change the thread title to 'Aerial Rescue'? The weeks-long mis-spelling is triggering my OCD now.
  4. Just received my new wire-core flipline. ISC snap and VT/micro pulley crab, smooth, smooth, smooth - I'm loving it. Any tips on what to do with the excess flipline for those occasional days when I tackle trees that don't need the full 3m length? Doesn't daisy chain too well!
  5. Been a good series, this. Will's a bit of a boy racer, but seems a likeable lad, and Kirsten gets on with the job without being too girly about things. Looking forward to tonights tree-porn finale!
  6. Live without one. Any employer would think you were the best worker ever. (Iphone, screenguard, decent rubber cover, and kept in a dog-s*** back if you must have it in your pocket all the time). Any phone will not last if you don't protect it at work, and carrying a rubberised brick round basically says 'look - I'm incapable of looking after expensive equipment'.
  7. That bout reminds me of my performance at Jonesie's show Mozza. Although I managed to get myself into that comatose state without fighting anyone!
  8. Over to you mate. Although I warn you, if I can fumble my Iphone from my pocket in time and get a shot of M. Stockbridge bending over in his arseless leather chainsaw trousers, I will win your pic thread hands down.
  9. Ha ha! Think how much money you have wasted on unnecessary chainsaw gloves in the last couple of years Mozza! Yeah, right!
  10. Me too. Pic 1 brings back really suicidal memories... Good in a way though, now it's all behind us! Or is it? Back off up home to Northumberland this week....
  11. Nothing you haven't done free-climbing with a bow-saw Stevie. My God that went down well!
  12. Sweet. Does the camera exaggerate the height? Looked more like 80-odd footers than little 'uns! I want to try a helmet cam, but have it turned round filming my face when I lower tops out, 'cos I reckon I probably gurn quite badly! In fact, with pops, there ain't no probably!
  13. Interesting? Rocked, man! Where are you? Are you in any of the footage?
  14. You don't need them mate. The powerhead wears out a long time before the bar and chain...
  15. Hey bro Big Luke is working for Parker Tree Care in North Shore. Did a few days for Tui. How do you access? Big Shot/throwline/SRT? Broadley will spew the next time he points to that Cherry in his garden!
  16. Did we ever have a satisfactory explanation for this one? LOLER guy one at AA show - pass LOLER guy two locally - fail Does f-all anyway (the wire), and I would be happy to use it.
  17. That last paragraph says more about our profession than the rest of the thread put together. Like it or lump it, that's the truth. I'm skilled, and happy. Tony, you are clearly more skilled than me. Your happiness should eclipse everything! All will become clearer when we all have a beer together this summer!
  18. Set your VT up on AP HC and leave it on your line man. Mines been there for over 6 months. 8-10 hours a day? VT (ok, Ropeguide is a must), makes you so quick Rich and I usually knock a days climbing out in 8-10 minutes. We then spend the rest of the day smoking opium and interviewing porn actresses.
  19. I tried a VT, found it temperamental, and went back to my trusty Blakes for a few weeks. Then thought WTF? I'm an intelligent bloke, if the worlds best climbers use it it must be OK, and I must be doing something wrong. Different hitch cord, DMM hitchclimber, oval crabs, adjust wraps and braids to suit your weight and climbing style - Bingo! Difference to work is like bowsaw vs. O2O. Hint - get someone who climbs on a VT to help. Miles quicker.
  20. It's more worrying that you 'worked me really hard' all day. The anal reconstructive surgery is coming on fine, though. I'd wear a suit if I was you, Will.
  21. Can't believe the amount of other life-forms up there. And I'm not just talking about your fellow climbers! Is one of them Drew B? Any vid footage? Different world. I'm reducing some connys next week.
  22. I've got one for you Phil. It's called 'free climbing'. Saves a fortune on ropes and that kind of sh**e.
  23. Totally agree TCD, but impractical attire for any physical element to an interview? ASK! It's free, and makes it look you are a forward planner and the type who would take the right kit to a job. Mick hasn't rang me since the arseless leather shorts incident.
  24. Why bore it John? Heartwood was unknown quantity, surely, and it would have been safer not to IMO. And I could bust a hinge that size with my knob! Tidy job though.
