  1. Nice work fellas. Isn’t it lovely to see a bit of sunshine?
  2. My ‘Go Compare’ quotes this year were ridiculous, like £8k ridiculous. Insured with Direct Line for a few hundred. (Transit tipper).

You mean you’ll get gardening and landscaping companies, and gyppos, (who aren’t insured for real tree work) offering this rate for a gun climber ‘with his own insurance’ when they get the chance of a lucrative tree job.

There’s a few thoughts initially mate. If you’re a freelance climber you don’t need your own insurance, so fuck that off as soon as you read this. You don’t need it, and they will never pay out. Ever. But will happily take your money. Rigging kit? No. Any decent outfit will have their own. Who’s running the ropes? A gyppo kid or £80/day jobseeker? You must be in London with the prices you mention, and if you’re good you’re worth every penny of £300-350, but sack off all the other shit and make Glendales pay. I’m in SE Kent, gun climbers on £220. And I mean gun, Danny Mac gun.
  5. With all the will in the World mate, stay out of it. Who knows what happened? Dan is probably right, but you do not want to get dragged into a court battle as an expert witness if you’re not suitably qualified to be an expert witness. That’s not a dig, I doubt any of us are. Jules @daltontrees and & chris@eden could possibly help. Chris won’t tag, someone techie help? @Jon Heuch?
  6. Can you imagine the area round Balmoral etc. getting the interest it does without the Monarchy? Fast forward 20 years. It wouldn’t be the same mate. That’s jobs lost. I’m not saying it’s right, but as Jackalope says, it’s the way it is. Hope you’re well mate.
  7. Good point, but I don’t think gaining £90m to potentially lose £1.7bn is worth the risk.

  9. Henchman are pretty good mate.
  10. What width is that bucket mate? My WQ is 900 wide with the larger tyres, so was thinking it made sense to keep the bucket the same, or slightly less than the overall width of the machine.
  11. As Tim says, there’s a great thread in large equipment ‘Opico Skidster and Sherpa mini loaders’. I got a Worky Quad last year as well. On the right job it’s a game changer. Like Tim, I wish it came out more often, but if it comes out once a month it pays for itself.
  12. I need a bucket for my Worky Quad. Avant buckets seem a fair bit cheaper and much more readily available. The headstocks are meant to be compatible, but if I get an Avant bucket will it fit straight on?
  13. I don’t mind paying tax, I’ve paid quite a lot over the years. It’s more what it’s spent, or not spent, on. And the blatant theft that is inheritance tax.
  14. Alex, I was jesting, but Clutchy has summed it up pretty well, as highlighted by Billy above. A couple of mates have ended up in deep shit after their Ltd. co’s went pop, including a house repossession.
  15. How are you ‘fully operational’ without a truck and chipper?
  16. Thanks guys. I stopped being Ltd when it became a bane financially, and also because I realised as a Director I wasn’t half as insulated as I thought I’d be, regarding house etc. The rules may have changed a bit, we’re talking 15 years ago. My bar-talk thoughts would be ST is absolutely fine unless you want to go bigger and run a bigger show with multiple crews etc., then Ltd. is probably the way forward. @Clutchy will have a far better grasp than me, I’m just a bitter and twisted old bastard who hates anything to do with tax.
  17. Great to see what it’s bringing in Marcus. Hopefully the hens will have a brood.
  18. Can you explain the last paragraph in more detail Billy?
  19. That’s a very valid point mate. I would be very surprised if their snouts weren’t in the trough though.
