  1. I’d give the Hyundai a go mate. You get an awful lot for £200. My mate has one for his garden and it seems to work. Heavy old beast as well, which may help longevity.
  2. They’re like cocks. You’ll always wish you had a slightly bigger one.
  3. As above. Cheers for following up.
  4. Big rings Stu. I reckon 80-ish isn’t far out. Or 600 on Ebay.
  5. It’s pretty simple. The companies you recruit for offer minimum wage and the churn of staff is ridiculous. I’ve met more ex-arbs than working ones. The biggest employers in arb are the fat cat companies underbidding big contracts to get an ‘in’ with the GM stuff etc. Crap work for crap wages. Anyone decent leaves, often to ‘go it alone’. Jackalope makes a good point about lifestyle as well. The industry is saturated. Just not with people who want to do a £4m contract for £3m. Glendale were recently on here offering £10-illegal after next month per hour for qualified arbs. It’s not rocket science.
  6. Bugger. How have you managed that mate?
  7. NFU are definitely worth a shout. JCB insurance should also do it, I have my loader insured with them on a standalone policy.
  8. I like cutting in the rain so I can justify my shit finish.
  9. They’re a bullshitting bunch of cretins who think talking about work is making money. I went along as a guest once for the (excellent) breakfast. Never again.
  10. It’s a very good point. To be fair I try and keep the top empty, bar for the odd jacket and waterproofs. That hedge cutter and socket set don’t live there.
  11. Just a basic timber frame and some ply for mine.
  12. Can you not punch it through from the other side?
  13. I reckon you’ve got a steal there mate.
  14. If you have more tea breaks you can fit up to eight working sessions into the day. #efficiency
  15. That’s the top answer.
  16. The trick is to drop the height of the stem just below the height you’ve reduced the sides to. They all look shit anyway. Trying to turn trees into shrubs rarely ends well.
  17. Your customer will be disappointed. It’s flat top or nothing initially.
  18. Quite possibly a Turtles Head for the assessor though.
