  1. Sounds like you have exactly the same take on it as me, my man. I was just joshing. Sorry about the hijack Treemenders! My mate moved to Auckland 18 months ago aged 34 and now works full time for a major arb firm out there. He managed to sort a 12 month working visa before he left. He's loving it.
  2. I have a standard 1" dia chrome chin up bar. On holiday last week I was chinning from an Oak limb about 2" dia., which I found much better. How can I increase the bar diameter easily, preferably with something grippy? Anyone suggesting 2" dia Oak limb with a 1" hole bored through it will be banned from this section of Arbtalk. * * probably
  3. Stump with a hat-tack framework then. My final offer. You'll do well on this site Mr. James.
  4. Depends if she's still fit or not.
  5. The last large Hawthorn I crown reduced I charged £1 for every place I was bleeding from. Total was £2776. Smash it to hedge size or leave it big mate. Reducing it in the sensitive way we are all in love with will open a horrible can of worms.
  6. Nice one. Which ones do you have to take these days?
  7. For the record I would tell them if they don't pay they can have their tree back (because they still own it) tipped on their drive in load after load after load.... That is not the sensible route, though it has worked for me before.
  8. It doesn't make any difference if you have 'I am going to sell your wood for a million pounds' written on your truck. They agreed the price, and they owe you the money. Tidy up properly and explain that if they don't pay you will have to get your solicitor to deal with it, and they will face legal charges on top of the bill. Don't get mad, get your money.

Glad you didn't melt Drew. Can't wait for pics. Climb Everything!
  10. Rang me last week. Said they were 'with' Kent Police, 'but there's no need to worry'. I said I wasn't worried. Then said I had more work than I could handle and couldn't possibly cope with any more. End of conversation.
  11. That reminds me Justin, Plippy fitting into his 'new position' ok?
  12. Depends on the grade Rupe. Hurley sticks are made from Ash.
  13. Busted Big Lad. I'm off to sell me chipper.
  14. I understand that Rupe uses one because he has realised that the more gear you can put into a system the more you are allowed to charge people. I'm trying to work out how to use 3 or 4 at once.
  15. A part of me me thinks that people who would use the services advertised on a flyer like that deserve to be marched down to the cashpoint 'under duress'....
  16. Yes. You could have pulled that with baler twine. Neat gob and letterbox Daniel. I would have gone with a standard back cut, but I wasn't there, you were. Thanks for posting.
  17. Mrs. rang me in a flap today. 2 weeks ago we had an estimated electricity bill from EON for £155. I rang them and said I never pay estimated bills, offered them the meter readings and told them to send me an accurate bill. We have had nothing but shite from them since we switched (well, the Mrs. did) from EDF 12 months ago. Letter from an enforcement agency arrived today saying they would force entry and cut power unless I paid EON the money I owed them on their estimated bill of £3998. I've never looked forward to going to court more in my life.
  18. Have a good weekend Hodge. Give my best to Dave and the lads. Turn the phone off now. You're meant to be shagging.
  19. A Husky combi-can, Husky holdall, Stihl MS260 and a 2-piece Stihl bar cover. If the bastards nicked that lot they would never steal again!
  20. Just out of interest, did anyone quote a price for a removal, and do you mind me asking what it was? (excluding grind if applicable).
  21. The Beech must go, unfortunately, the sooner the better. That's the simple bit. I'm not sure about a Gingko as a suitable replant, though. I've taken one down that went over 50', and wasn't that old (Tenterden, Kent). Location and soil type is fairly important here, but it's your garden mate, and you should select a tree that you will be happy with.
  22. I can't wait till they send it back to you with a note saying 'Zis chain haz been really crappily sharpened, and ist now kaput'.
