  1. Serves you right. You should have had two ropes.
  2. @felixthelogchopper could you have a word with Spike?
  3. I used to be pretty bad for keeping old chains. I came to the conclusion if you take them off there's a reason for that and you are better off getting shot of them. My old gaffer had about 200 chains hung up in the workshop 'that would do for a dirty stump'. None of them ever got used and I bet they are still there. This thread reminds me I need to sort my (new) spare chains out. They are rattling around in the new garage/workshop somewhere after a house move.
  4. Good time of year to get stuck into the anaesthetic as well....
  5. Ouch! Fast moving labs are bloody dangerous beasts, more so when they are in company howking around together. I've been wiped out a few times, so have all my kids. A couple of years ago a lady down here had her femur snapped after her own dog lab flattened her. He's a big lad, mind. Hope you fix up quickly mate.
  6. I like keeping chains of all different lengths, pitches and gauges in a filthy, tangled, jumbled mess in an oil-soaked cardboard box under the rear seats in the truck. Once a year throw the whole thing in a bin and buy a load of new chains.
  7. There are a few trees round here that have been responsible for extremely swift speed reduction for careless drivers.
  8. I’m pretty sure I speak for most on here when I say we certainly are. The way you write about things, the questions you raise and answer, your total honesty about your own knowledge and skill set, your willingness to call in help when needed, and the total lack of bs, politics and bickering. It’s like a breath of fresh air. Fair play to you and everyone involved.
  9. Living the dream Alex! Apart from the palms, like.
  10. Yes. Two independent anchor points, so you now need to do poles in pairs adjacent to each other.
  11. You won’t get much freelance work on 40’ trees.
  12. Trainspotting - Going for a walk (Corrour Station) WWW.GOOGLE.COM SICK BOY: Now what? TOMMY: We go for a walk. SPUD: What? TOMMY: A walk! SPUD: But where? TOMMY:...
  13. I think Scotland could make it’s own way. Great natural resources, space, general grit and graft bred in to a lot of the population, and history has shown huge amount of intelligence and invention. That said, Sturgeon and the SNP are none of this. I can’t think of a worse representation of Scotland in general, they could take any country back into the stone age.
  14. Aye, I must have made 1000’s of chooks poorly over the years with my chip with bark included.
  15. Aye, I bet I know someone who could melt it eh @MattyF?
  16. It looks like Ocean Polyester, but I didn't think they made bigger than 10mm diameter? Could be wrong, mind, I often am. @Tommy_B would know the best splice if it is.
  17. Can I just ask, why no bark? I can't think of any situation where any tree surgeon would be chipping timber with no bark on it, so you will be limiting your options somewhat.
  18. I tend not to combine them if I can help it, but it’s easy enough to wear the ascender either over or under your spikes. I’ve got Geckos as well.
  19. It's bullshit Mick, makes no difference at all.
  20. Spectrum Plant do them mate. If you go on their website you can download a return form so you can send them up to them postage free.
