  1. after first fill strimmer started to become slow on pick up and not achieving max revs.after usual checks, air filter, plug, fuel filter and fuel pipes which are all fine i cleaned out carb, there was some dirt in the gauze.Put back together and and started strimming again, ran really well until end of fill, same problem as before, seems to occur when engine hot.Any ideas?
  2. I've had one for three years,i couldn't work without it now.Great for use with chainsaw aswell if your reducing the height and the material is too thick for a hedgetrimmer.
  3. Will try timpsons first,i think there's one in aberdeen if not i'll give nelsons a phone. Many thanks for the help, hopefully there's more life left in them!ps yes they took a while to break in,worth it though.
  4. Does anyone know where i can get a pair of zermatt's re-soled and will they recieve them by post if far afield?Still life left in the boots hence a re-sole.I put them to a local shoe repairer but he declined as they were chainsaw boots,if they were normal boots he said he could have easily fitted new vibram soles.
  5. Drum sounds ok when pulling out rope.just changed ropes on thurs and had to turn drum by hand, didn't seem to be any play.clutch never been adjusted since new(4 years old)so sounds hopeful.
  6. Having problems with the drum creeping back in itself when you let the brake off,ie press 2 on the remote.doesn't have enough force to pull anything other than the rope back in which is a pain when you've pulled it out, only at short length though seems fine at 50m plus.Haven't investigated yet but wondered if there might be a sticky spool valve, any ideas folks?
  7. Cable on my 85h goes under the drum on the butt plate side then up and round the pto side because we always you get into the hole with grub screw through the guard above the pto.hope this helps.
  8. A weeks road closure will cost you £320 up here tom and you have to sign the diversion yourself. We have worked on a few of the councils own closures and find that joe public still thinks he/she can hurtle through your workzone at full speed!especially at goin to and coming home from work time.

    Thanks

No worries justin, enjoy the rest today, you deserve it.Looking forward to knocking the shine off my RC single bollard.Good to catch up with you albeit briefly.Catch you at the next one,regards,jamie:001_smile:
  10. Blair from clark's was speaking about one next year sometime.Long way down to apf for us but worth it:001_smile:
  11. so do we!Your right about the wedges being squashed into the stump, happens with the jack sometimes too.All that effort banging in wedges, you get the tree down, your knackered then you've got to do the same with the next tree!Still handy to have the hi-lifters in aswell to spread the load especially on a windy day like most this week!
  12. I'll be there thurs fri, hope the weather is as good as the last one:001_smile:
  13. There's one in the classified on back page of the forest journal, not sure if it's the same one that's been in a while. She in ireland by the looks of it.
  14. Still plenty to cut up here. They're great to do once you get over the ''dead'' tree thing. As said before are very fibrous.Very seldom you get one with a fresh butt but if rotten it only goes up the trunk about 2-3 metres before you hit sound wood.Have fun BTS:001_smile:
  15. As said before just take it down if it's a small 4 core wire.Disconnect it at the white box, take note of the colours before you cut it,you usually only need to cut 2.The 3 off white wires don't carry any current they're just for strengthening.I take them down quite often,i was given the proper crimp connections by a BT engineer:sneaky2:.But thats ok if it's your clients supply your taking down it's gets a bit tricky when it's the neighbours. If its the heavy duty armoured cable you've got there forget it,just work round it,they take alot more to break. We got a price from BT to lower a 100m ish span off heavy duty cable and put it back up again,3 men and a winch needed.£1000!we took the trees down the hard way!
  16. Yes the cord is really aggressive but i don't miss taking that bloody spool to bits every time the line breaks so i can put up with the extra waste.
  17. This is our set up,works well(within reason)We pull a 12'x6' ifor tipper but also use a lighter logic quad trailer.
  18. Close one stevie!Thats what they're for, theres a lad down here the same on a monday morning after a heavy weekend and didn't have chainsaw boots on!Your right about the tired bit.i walked under a tree an was hit by a lump of elm and spent a night in hospital all due to a 10.30pm finish the day before!Very true about the traffic management Matt, that's what ALL RED'S are for,but there's always some one disgruntled motorist!

    346XP any good.

Excellent saw,i've had mine for 6 years now and will replace it with another one this year.Very light, very fast(15'' bar) and extremely good on fuel.Great for takedowns when you need to drop larger limbs and tops.
  20. I had two pairs of protector pro's and on both pairs the sole came off after 2 months at the front and on one pair it came off at the heel also. Our lad bought a new pair when he started and they've done the same, sole separating at the front.I wouldn't have another,i think they are overated, for that money it's disappointing.I'm really happy with my klima air zermatts after a year.
  21. It'd have to be the honda VFR800 i saw in the paper on friday for 2 and a half K,With permission from her indoors of course!?
  22. And you'd be refuelling every ten minutes!Forget combi can you'll need jerry can!
  23. Didn't click it was the great man himself steve, did you ever see that article in the forest journal with him felling out half a 300footer with a large cast on his leg!.Felling big dangerous trees like that still give me the jitters!Every day is a school day as they say.You can learn so much from the old hands i think.
  24. No doubt it was a calculated risk if he was as experienced as you say steve!
  25. Flat out as usual!Jist got broadband and computer going again after they got knocked out with lightning last friday.Glenkindie were all out for about 4 days!Have you thought about buying your own tractor and building it yourself? You'll save a fair bit that way.17 and a half k for a long reach cranab from clark's with mini levers! That'll be my plan when i change mine:001_smile:
