Undo the tension on the spring and coil the tape into a bucket of hot water and washing powder and leave to soak for a few hours,pull the tape out of the bucket and wipe it with a cloth as you do.roberts your fathers brother as they say:001_cool:

Used mine today for first time,as previously mentioned no sit back and self tends well,very pleased with it.A point to note though,i cut a smallish branch which was in between climbing line as the beech i was ascending was full of epicormic,it followed the rope right down to the ZZ and i dropped a foot or so,had a flip line in so no worries but could of been interesting had i not.Thanks for the courtesy call justin,i thought i'd better call back quick before they were all gone.

It has to be Balvenie for me,signature or double wood,either or,speysides' finest with a wee splash of water(preferably not from a mains supply!) ps to avoid a hangover stick to malts imo

It is on open ground but the public can walk underneath. It has been reduced by 25% previously.

It was only yesterday.

Found this at the bottom of a Sycamore yesterday it had fallen off an old limb removal wound. I am thinking Dryads Saddle but an expert opinion would be great. It was chucking it down and its to say the least its a bit yucky and squishy! Thanks

There are a few left up here,this is the only redwood i've ever felled though,10 footer,it had to come down for a development,i didn't plan on felling it that day but the 50mph+ wind behind it convinced me.

Best Tractor / Crane / Chipper set-up ???

Tractor with roofmount crane.If your planning on winching and forwarding,excellent for winching especially when butt needs a lift up to get chokers under. -
I had to demonstrate it on my cs33 long long ago just for the simple reason of not enough bar length when coming round the back with felling cut.I use it on large spruce often as i dont like to take buttress of before felling so often struggle for reach in middle with 20'' bar,i prefer taking buttress off when tree is on the ground,much easier.Will give it a go on smaller splitty trees(ash,syc,maple)tho as said previously as i don't normally.

I take all the plastic bits off the saw and put them in an old dustbin full of really hot water and washing powder,leave them to soak for about two days then clean them up with a hard bristle brush.they come up like new.

This maybe a bit sad but it's worth a try,on visiting a previous client today to look at some more work i was shown this.We dismantled 13 large open growing norway spruce two and a half years ago,we didn't split it,the clients son did,which must have been a major task in itself(freshly cut softwood with an axe!)and stacked it afterwards in this fashion.Can anybody do any better?

We traded in our 530 recently for a 540,similar age to yours.Very pleased with the bigger capacity especially on twisted or large forked branches.Slightly heavier on the trailer.I didn't think width was really an issue as with hopper off 540 is only still 900mm i think opposed to 750mm on 530.Would thoroughly recommend the folding hopper,our last one was the fixed variety and i'd never go back to it.

I got fed up with replacing spouts on the husky cans so switched to stihl years ago.The fact that stihl cans are see through is a bonus too.

Highly recommend them,cheaper and far more waterproof than some other more expensive makes.As said before the longer arms and high neck are great for climbing.Velcro on the cuffs tends to get a bit clogged up in sitka though.The company logo has a minimum order of 25 though!

We have a site clearance coming up next month,mostly firewood but there are a few beech trees with some decent first and second lengths.There is one large sequoia and possibly some horse chestnut,one or two elms also.All enquiries welcome.

You could try Donald Mclean,he's an independant assesor,hes at lairg somewhere.Can pm you his details if you need them.He came down an did my tractor/wood bogie/winch units in a day. -
