  1. That's going to be a lot of friction to overcome to lift something It cost how much??... and didn't come with instructions??? Nice shiny new toy though.
  2. It probably hasn't stopped on lack of grip, its on tarmac after all, chances are the snorkel isn't working as it should and they have drowned the engine
  3. There is always the zero or hero option:evil: Drill a small hole in the stump, fill with black powder and compact, add a fuse and cover with tarps and pallets. Light fuse and duck, have the van running and the door open in case it doesn't go to plan. Joking aside the air spade or similar will clean all the crud off which makes dissecting it lot easier, it makes a mess but pressure washing it off is a slower but cleaner option if you have the drainage
  4. Ha Ha, I had one newbie that couldn't start anything bigger than a 44:001_rolleyes:
  5. Well that all depends on what is probably a 20 year old system still having its water tight integrity, worst case moggy needs a new engine. But it might be worse than that.................. I wonder where the saws and climbing kit are at? That body looks to have a locker built in so the any kit in there is going to need a bit of drying out.
  6. Last thing I saw it on was an Ash, the customer was adamant it had to be removed before it infected other trees and wouldn't be swayed. Who am I to argue with all that firewood?
  7. Accepted, but they do have to have a reason to decline, and if they become unreasonable, well that's what the ombudsman is for. When all is said and done we are a service industry and if the client still wants the tree mullered after you have explained the pros and cons that's their good choice in the same way they can paint their house bright pink with polka dots if they so choose.
  8. I don't see how they can make your life hard, its a system with a set of rules for both sides to follow, they can condition the works to the relevant standard but then you were constrained to that anyway. That's the legitimate conditions I spoke of earlier.
  9. Your post gives the impression that the tree officer gets to decide who does the work and has the power to withhold consent if they don't like the way you do things. They don't, its a planning application, they cant tell you who can build your extension and the cant tell you who cuts the tree. When you say "app one" do you mean one app? Does it say on the form that the tree officer has these powers? I think not
  10. I am going to take exception to that statement (pruning standards notwithstanding) Firstly the consent applies to the tree not the person and secondly, while some conditions can be legitimately applied the TPO legislation simply does not have the power to say who can and or cannot prune a tree.
  11. Its a bit like a felling but you don't finish it:laugh1:
  12. I like the reduction on the right best. You just cant beat a 99%er
  13. That's where the Bolle contour scores well. The ends of the arms are flat and curve around the head so they are comfortable under ear defenders
  14. Put it on a rinse and fast spin cycle, comes out dry enough to use and clean to boot
  15. The blue book recommends you to give 5 days notice unless its an emergency. You may be called upon to justify your actions so whatever you do gather evidence to support your actions
  16. Thanks, I will give them a go, I was disappointed with the last lot I bought, clunky as duck and not fit for use.
  17. Bolle Contour glasses work for me
  18. Cheers Bob, I bought a couple but the quality is dire, they make more noise than a long case clock:thumbdown:
  19. Superbat? Nice work, are the mechanisms expensive and where can I buy one
  20. Without sight of the job I wouldn't even hazard a guess.
  21. The reason that motor uses that amount of oil is because they have that amount available on the carrier, you can do it with less if you use a standard low speed high torque motor and gear/belt drive the sprocket to get a respectable chain speed. With that system you could run a mobile setup on a JCB beaver power pack, or similar It will be slower than the harvester motor option but you have less power available and less in means less out.
  22. The tree owner has (allegedly) been badly advised, he is liable for the removal of the material left and the removal of the remaining tree to the "make safe" level
  23. Some of it is but there was no talk of felling it, the remainder of the tree that was under discussion was left on someone else's land
  24. That would be the case if the neighbour had cut the overhang, however in this case the owner (or his agents) had abandoned, even fly tipped the material,
  25. The problem with strengthening the steering gear is that you are transferring forces to other components. HD track rods are just as easy to bend when you have a vehicle pushing it. Straightening a heavy duty track rod in the field is a lot harder than a standard.
