  1. Agreed. Looks like you are off to a rocky start with your potential neighbour and you havent even moved in yet!
  2. Your videos appear to have an orange cast on them. Having looked on youtube I think it is down to the camera. Perhaps this will have been resolved with the 7 star. Keep them coming anyway.
  3. I'm with you on that one. Really grinds my gears. Just think yourself lucky you dont have a postcode in the highlands! Apparently it cost the same to ship to the highlands as it does to Europe!
  4. Good job. What camera are you using? Go Pro?
  5. A nice bit of bling there! What a find.
  6. I would recommend putting the chain brake on before pushing the chogs off the top too.
  7. Many thanks David.
  8. What do you mean by proper pruning?
  9. Thanks for sharing David. In terms of decay, is their any significant differences between australe and applanatum?
  10. Monkey vomit?
  11. Yes. Scots pine would be better than Sitka. IMO.
  12. [ame= ] [/ame]
  13. Theres your problem! If you plunge cut removing the middle wood first and retaining a holding strap at the back of the tree then released it when you had your hinge set up at the correct thickness it would not have happened. Does that make sense?
  14. How did you approach the felling cut? Did you plunge and release or just go standard?
  15. Simple answer is - if one is getting stuck, bouncing off, or is just proving to be hard work I put it down and try an alternative. Sometimes an axe is better than a maul and sometimes something in between (like gransfors splitting axe works best). I hand split all my logs and some of them are up to 18 inches. If you haven't tried alternatives when splitting give it a go.
  16. Yeah the site looks good but the prices are still on the high side:001_tongue:
  17. I find it depends on what type of wood your splitting. Personally I have a selection ranging from cheap axes and mauls to Gransfors and Wetterlings splitting axes. I also sometimes have to resort to sledge hammer and splitting grenade for the really twisty - grained stuff.
  18. Can anyone advise of a training provider for Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry in the Inverness area please?
  19. Wow. You clearly have the patience of a saint! Do the doors not catch on each other being that thick?
  20. Yep me too. Only when using Arbtalk.
  21. I love it. Particularly the close up shot of the different grains in the worktop. How did you go about gluing the worktop sections together? I assume you made up several blocks and then glued the blocks together, rather than doing it all in a oner with extremely long sash cramps? How did you go about making the doors? What thickness are they? I think the hinges are fine personally. Befitting for rustic recycled kitchen units. Top Job!
  22. I think banning top handled saws would be a retrograde step. I believe strongly in the old adage that "a bad workman blames his tools". The answer has to lie in better education. I agree entirely with this sentiment. There will always be accidents even with the most highly trained individuals. There is little point in blaming the tools. As the American gun lobby likes to remind us "it aint the guns that kill people its the people".
  23. Showing your age there Basil!
