  1. I store my GRCS in two plywood boxes with lids and handles. They are old tool boxes I picked up second hand. Unfortunately there is insufficient space to fir the strap tension lever/rod and my favourite trick is to forget it and have to rethink my whole method of dismantling when I reach the clients property!
  2. I believe they are the new Pampas grass now that the grass has "gone out of fashion".
  3. One can only hope David. So will the tree pulling be repeated on a regular basis?
  4. First I have heard of it to be honest. Looks like it comes ready slaiced. Does that mean it cannot be hand spliced?
  5. Interesting discussion. The pull test is only testing the structural integrity of the tree not the tree soil interface. As David says the tests were undertaken due to the presence of Meripilus giganteus a root and butt rot fungi. Further tests could be conducted in dry and wet spells using tree motion sensing to see if their is any significant difference in motion/recovery. I would hope that something could be done within the rooting area to improve the conditions there David.
  6. Sound a bit like Truck Nutz
  7. We had some folk from the travelling community set up camp in a nearby lay-by about a year and a half ago. The highways authority decided that the land on which the lay-by sat belonged to the local estate and suggested they do something to move the occupants on. The estate disputed ownership but the LA were insistent. After some time the occupants did move on and the estate notified the council that they would be blocking the entrances to the lay-by with large boulders to deter any return, however the council told them not to as they had decided the land did actually belong to them after all! The slippery so and sos.
  8. Get your groundie to hold the rope until you are about 12 foot above him.
  9. Yeah I had this issue to. Purchased the straps then had to get the wee connectors separately. You think they would at least make it clear for stockists so they can advise accordingly. Got mine from Treekit so they should be aware of this issue.
  10. Most of them grate on me in some way or another. But events like the BAFTAs and other award ceremonies really grind my gears. I cant stand watching them wallow in their own brilliance and patting one another on the back. Surely if they are up to snuff they get adequately awarded by the fees they get paid.
  11. What a good thead! Anyone know what exercises should be done to relieve pressure on the knee joints? One of mine is goosed. Cheers
  12. Are you referring to the girdling roots?
  13. I think a few of them may have played Angry Birds!
  14. Its pretty direct however I don't like the photo transitions on the home page and the gallery they made me feel a bit seasick! But some good photos there.
  15. I don't think that Technician Members of the Arboricultural Association are allowed to use the AA logo. Just a heads up.
  16. Depends what you need to do with it realy. Sage is probably still the market leader but it is expensive and probably over complicated for your needs. A lot of people are using Quickbooks but I have no experience with this package. The package we use is called Excel and it is made by a company called Microsoft. You may have heard of it?
  17. Yeah those chocolate balls will be the end of me.
  18. I like the steel insert Darrin. They almost look made for the job. They are clearly meant to solve a problem. I wonder if there was a demand for them from people who do a lot of rappelling?
  19. I hear yah. Having just been through Christmas it would be hard for anyone to avoid sugar. My personal downfall is milk chocolate which is pure fat and sugar and not much else!
  20. You should refer this to your own arboricultural advisor. They will have the correct training and Professional Indemnity insurance in place to give you suitable guidance.
  21. Hmm. the "natural news" article appears to be based on hearsay rather than any scientific research. The quote you provide even admits "very little studies exist on its side effects" and goes on to suggest that eating large quantities may make you fart and splutter a bit. I am always extremely wary of non peer reviewed articles like this. I am not saying you are wrong, just that I am not convinced by that particular article. Do you have any scientific papers that back this up?
  22. Corrected that for you Garry
  23. I don't think it will stay upright on its own Gary and adding woodchip is unlikely to improve drainage but may provide extra food for decay organisms. By all means faff around with it and see if you can save it, but I think buying and planting another elsewhere is the best insurance policy!
  24. Buy another and plant elsewhere in the garden. That one is firewood.
