  1. Many thanks, I'm travelling down to Gloucester now, and back to Liverpool tomorrow evening so in theory could come and see you tomorrow eve. Will speak tuesday anyway. R
  2. Can you confirm that it will split 1 metre lengths, as the website link says it is 57cm long, may be a slightly different model though. I'll ring you on tuesday if you haven't sold it by then to arrange coming down to see it. R
  3. I quite like working on cherry, but then again probably because that's what I've done most of so it's what I'm good at and accordingly find easy. R
  4. How much petrol does it use a day/hour or some guideline of consumption. How many ton is it, would I be right in assuming its hydraulic not belt driven? Rob
  5. It does make all the difference to the finished effect, although on larger areas if your starting in the middle with two of you it can become confusing..........
  6. Nope fairly sure it's as simple as you describe
  7. Well I'm now after two good engines, as I've just brought a stump grinder - Mite even have been the same one you were thinking of buying it was from over your way. So if anybody has an abundance of horizontal crank engines lying about anything 18up especially kohler let me know!! R
  8. Duno really haven't thought about it to much, half of me is saying stay away, the other half is thinking another toy that won't take up to much tim or money to keep me amused on these dark winters nights!! If I could get one for a few hundred it would make it viable, if not I start getting into the league where I could buy a working chipper to massacre............. Or just buy purpose built - but that wouldn't be any fun. R
  9. I thought something would fit, don't even know if I'd go for the same type of shoot if I was trying to make a smaller machine. Thanks for the heads up, any idea on price for the shoot? Me thinks the engine will be the killer!! R
  10. Not managed to start my refurb yet, but just been offered a 'shell' but I think the guy wants to much for it. I was thinking of buying it and making another chipper up, more like SWB's, ie on a trolley that would go through a gate. Anybody know if I could still get a shoot for it, and probably more importantly an engine, mines a kohler 20hp but apparently others will fit, any ideas on cost? He wants £300 which I think should be nearer £150, Thoughts? Apart from I don't need anymore rubbish!! R
  11. I was assuming that that didn't include transport unless it's local. I'd want someone that could use a saw for that money though. R
  12. I've got a husky backpack blower and will be getting a stihl to replace it next year, nuff said? Out of interest whats gone on it? I had one for my first blower and it's still getting used by the person I gave it to. R
  13. I'm not knocking in experience at all, I'm still not fully experienced in the tree game(couple of years), but my grounds maintenance set up has been fairly successful. What I do know is my limitations, and because of that I can do any job that is requested of me. You'll be a success because of your enthusiasm, and wouldn't be a weak link, unless you were asked to do something beyond your skill level. I.e If you were asked to groundy on a huge rig setup you may struggle (dunno you might not) whereas if your asked to ensure the rope is kept clear and the brash stacked properly you'd be fine. However some employers will get somebody with no skill, or interest and they become a bad egg in the setup. R
  14. INMO a mistake to hire it out without a chainsaw operator. The number of times that branches need a fork off is could become very annoying in a day. Or worse still detrimental to the motors as the operator makes it fit. Just my thoughts. Pricewise I think your overpriced. I don't pay more that £120 a day to hire one and I only hire it every so often so won't be getting the best deal out there. So £130 a day for an chipper feeder. He'd have to be good to make it worth my while. Then again there are big regional price differences so not sure what it's like down your way. R
  15. You get what you pay for. In some situations a 3rd man just carrying logs out of a back garden is fine, even then though............. I firmly believe that you are only as good as your weakest member of staff!!
  16. I weighed one a few dumpy bags, 8-14 inch logs averaged about 160kg, sub 8 inch logs weighed just over 200. To many variables to give an answer to the above question though, just my results based on interest. R
  17. You'd definitely have the mick taken, all comes down to whether your man enough to handle it or not. Mines ace, just need a towbar for it to tow the ickle chipper......... R
  18. I've got some more work out there next year, if the guy that came this year can't make it I'll be after someone to help me.............. Longshot I reckon though unfortunately R
  19. Good price, you can't go wrong with it as long as you don't try and pretend it's something it' not
  20. How much can you build me one for dean? I worked out the price of getting a mate to put one together and it wasn't far off the price they asked for them, plus I wouldn't be able to staff it as it has no CE marking. R
  21. Beat me to it, sure you can find some logs for him somewhere......... The mower shop I use has a demo one and it's pretty good on nice stuff - but very very very slow. Possibly ideal in this scenario. R
  22. The old tacho debate again, as long as your within a certain distance from base you should be ok. I'm not but then again I've got mates all over the place I have to visit with machinery............... R
  23. Cut off saw and a couple of the cheaper diamond blades should do it. Plus some blood sweat and tears along the way. R

    VAT Rise

Fairly sure it's all based on the invoice date. R
