  1. stupidly seeing whether i could skid the timber up there with the dozer, why we took the old international i dont know................saying that i was probably hunting something, the .308 either lived in the landcruiser or the dozer!
  2. its amazing what will work, we used to have an old twin rear wheel international truck out in australia and got it stuck on a slope, nose facing downhill. couldnt reverse out, no machinery for miles and no phone signal so we fed a cable between the dual rear wheels and anchored the other end to a tree further up the hill, engage difflock and let it wheelspin on idle to take the slack up in the line then it slowly wound itself up the hill as the cable fed up between the tyres. not saying it was ideal but hey it got us home.
  3. Glad to help mate, nice to put a face to a name. any more chip you wanna off load you know where to dump it! Coopers Pale for me please
  4. keep an eye on ebay for the chute, my friend picked up a greenmech one for 40 quid delivered that he then modified the bottom to take the tinnywolf fittings. whats ur budget for an engine?
  5. i know the green mech chutes will fit with little modification, myself and another arbtalk member refurbished his entec earlier this year. nice and simple to work on!!
  6. Vosa still issues fines if you dont have matching plates, i got done the other day. 30 quid fine. they had to fine me for something as their plan of fining me for the vehicle being overweight didnt work. defender 110 and ifor lm166 weighed 3250 on the quarry weighbridge, 2000kgs was then added and distributed along the floor, got the weigh loader ticket from the loading shovel then was weighed coming out 5250kgs. all the paperwork to prove. Vosa stopped me down the road weighed each axle on their scales, calculated the totals then proceeded to tell me the GTW was too much??!!! HOW??!!!! Thanks to the paperwork from the quarry as well as me going on the internet on my i phone and showing the officers what the capacities were from the manufacturers websites i was allowed to go on my way............only an hour late
  7. Charles is the man!!! he has sorted out my jensens in the past. apparently it is a common problem with them, my one cracked so i stripped it down and ground the crack out and welded it back up. they usually go behind the axle from what i was told but my one went about 30mm in front of axle
  8. yeh dynes farm is only a mile and a half or so away, feel free to run in as many loads of chip as you want. im floating around our place all week as i need to sort my machinery out for some upcoming jobs. dunno if it would be any help to you but if u get any bigger jobs and u need stuff shifting or chipped i got a mog and 10" chipper and a 10ton tipping trailer with 6m forestry crane on if it would make life easier for you!!

  9. tracked skidsteer mulchers will work ok on slopes providing its not too wet on top as you will loose traction when climbing gradients. if the mulcher has fixed rotor teeth it will handle the smaller stumps fine providing u dont try and go too fast. to smash the stuff up small and leave an even level finish i usually track backwards with the flap closed and rotor lightly touching the ground. swinging hammer flails will leave a better finish on the smaller brambles etc but wont be as good on solid material
  10. you should be able to run a big shredder without the screens in, depending on the wood ur feeding and the machine type should produce shards of wood about the size of the point of a fence post split in two
  11. like dean says, solenoids are probably shot, u could try taking the cover off and making sure all connections are clean and tight and that power supply to them is strong
  12. where's sooty, sweep and sue hiding mate??!!! lol
  13. when was sodium chlorate taken off the shelves?? our local agri factor still stocks it in 25kg tubs, brought a few myself perhaps 2 months ago .
  14. it does give a good perspective of how steep the bank is and the bouncing bomb effect of small pieces rolling down toward the house
  15. phil theres not enough minutes in that deal for ya motor mouth!!!
  16. stihl saw and a mask, grind slots into it as deep as u can then knock in wedges til it breaks apart. may be slow and stink of burning wood but it will be cheaper than trashing chains
  17. now that.......... that i like! proper job!!!!!!!!!!
  18. lift pump diaphram hasnt gone has it?? i had issues with my old massey so i cleaned tank new fuel filter and it still did it, changed the lift pump (under £20) and it was fine
  19. any crap in the sediment bowl on the lift pump?
  20. if u want good reach u will need a site telehandler, not only are they gutless on the road they are bloody heavy, jcb 12m telehandler i drove a while back on clearance job was over 11.5 tonnes. go for a farm spec one as it will have much much more power ie a 530 / 70 jcb has about 130 donkeys compared to a site loader which will have about 70hp. farm spec ones will have pick up hitch for a trailer and generally hydrualic trailer brakes and sometimes a selectable tipping outlet. if u need pto then merlo or landini is really the only option. 40kph is generally top speed on any telehandler for good reason even with soft ride / float on the boom its still a bumpy ride especially travelling on the raod with a heavy grab or bucket fitted
  21. whenever i have had to leave a tank in situ on a machine i usually take all the fittings out the bottom of tank, cap off all the lines then pressure wash out. once your sure its as clean as u can get it i use a hot air gun that you would use to strip wallpaper, stick it in the filler neck and let it warm the tank thru til it dries. hook all the fuel lines etc up fill her up give it a bleed and away u go
  22. a firm i subbie to have a few of them, not current model perhaps 4 years old now. only issue they had was clutches going prematurely and a very poor payload. these all had on board weigh cells on the load bed and i found it shocking as to how little you could load them before the indicator would flash
  23. is that re enforcing bar josh?? i was felling a multi stemmed conifer with the 084 and 36" bar and hit a piece right near the hinge when making the back cut thus ruining the chain and making it swing about 30 degrees from where it was meant to land. ah well at least i squashed some of those solar lantern things!!
