  2. Faced with a hall full of 6-7 year olds mate that sounds fun, i would think mention the machinery for the wee boys they love trucks at that age. And mention how you dont hurt any small animals or birds and that will please the girls. And the environmental aspect of your work (recycle all waste) as the schools and kids in general have a better grasp of the environment now than when i was a kid. Good luck with it very commendable
  3. As stevie says Josh phone the tax office, i dont know if its changed now but you use to have to pay class 2 NI contributions and your employer may want you to have personal injury cover in case you get injured whilst working for your self, they may not want to pay you sick pay ( that is if they pay it the now!!).
  4. Nice one rich, was that a half lunge i see in one of the pictures?
  5. Really interesting thread and posts Whats the main reason for company's giving up there AAAC status as i know edinburgh council was one a few year ago but not anymore, What is the percentage of drop outs from the scheme as i am sure like us you want to keep all your existing clients and also attract new ones. The reason i ask is i thought Frontier forestry and west lothian council were AA approved contractors in Scotland along with the other three have they opted out of the scheme?. What code of conduct do the contractors have to adhere to? i.e i would imagine BS3998 BUT what if the client wants the tree half and wont take no for an answer as a AAAC do you have to walk away? When times get hard this may be a financial handicap for the mostly domestic contractor, this is of course is hypothetical situation i am just interested in the answer. Paul i would also like to add, i think you have done more to bridge the gap from the AA to the tree surgeon/arborist/tree cutter etc in the last month on this forum than the AA have done in years. top job mate. Robert

  16. i was frightened to open this thread and made sure the kids were out the room just in case they became scared for life by an image!!! i had a RAM chipper that was the same kind of bearings, but the end of the hydraulic drive was splined into the shaft of the roller and kept stripping out it was a real pita. How is the drive attached to the rollers on the bandit dean?

  23. The best option would be the one that is going to benefit YOUR future plans, i think it depends what you intend to be doing once you get qualified as each qualification will open different doors, what sector of arb are you going to aim for? contracting/consulting/teaching?
