  1. If stacking I tend to only stack the front wall & tip the rest in so would need a rear wall or have to make a second wall. Better things to do than neat stack it all.
  2. Surely thats you doing it on purpose? It would never be used like that in real life?
  3. If using that rule make sure the wheel arches are within the max width.
  4. The speed rating is also about acceleration & braking forces that could be exceeded even without going over the speed limits.
  5. S = Static vertical mass in English Re the pin you would have to consult the maker. The car will have he same limit the tow bar the same limit The trailer its marked limit The ball might be different o the pin. I know of some ball / pin combo's where the ball is 3500kg yet the pin is less.
  6. Sadly I do have to work The 2.3m is the old width. Its more now (2.55m I think)
  7. Nose weight is the static load, not the dynamic load.
  8. Look at the specs. Never assume.
  9. Look at the S marking on the tow bar, tow ball, trailer hitch & car specs. You must always use the lowest one as the maximum. Roughly you want to be looking at 5-7% of trailers max weight aprox.
  10. I would also hope they have updated the TV definition from "cathode ray tube" lol
  11. I think you have ably answered your own question. The one you have missed is the location of the front cam. It must not be in the wipers sweep or even on the dash if it blocks your view of the sweep. I am fitting one to my camper as so many car get so far up my ass I need an endoscope to see them. It will be set up as a virtual rear view mirror. If its just for reversing then fit one that comes on when reverse is selected.
  12. MAM, axle weights are all legally enforceable. For some unknown reason GTW or maximum towing limits are not. Even odder is that the unbraked towing limit is enforceable. Whilst every driver can tow 750kg behind their vehicle for licencing regulations some vehicles have a lower unbraked limit as you are only allowed to tow 50% of your curb weight unbraked.
  13. Since for ever.
  14. Oddly the makers recommendation is not law. Would I want to defend this in a court? No.
  15. You can tow the 2800kg but the GTW should still be complied with by not loafing the van to its max. However GTW is not directly enforcable.
  16. Changing the bull works better.
  17. I agree. In fact at the road side they will just ticket you. You would then have to defend / dispute it in court.
  18. I recon this will be a revenge child. Someone else had it in for him.......
  19. Legally nope. You can fully load the truck and tow what you like up to 3500kg. The GTW is a recommendation. However it would be used against you IF something happened. There is NO law that says you can not exceed the makers recommendation of the GTW. You can not go over 3500kg as no trailer behind a group B vehicle can be over that (Landrovers doing 4000kg is now dead due to the licence changes) Under the GTW it is deemed to be safe, over GTW you might have to prove it was safe. Its the same as speed limits & recommendation limits. Exceed a speed limit & you are done for speeding, exceeded a recommendation & you could be done for dangerous driving, driving with due care & attention but not speeding. I know its stupid & the law should be that you cant exceed the GTW but that is the law we have. "should" in the HWC is not law. "must" is law.
  20. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/82158-help-options-4x4-3500kg-towing-4.html#post1372972 The link in that link seems to have expired http://www.svtech.co.uk/our-services/uprating/
  21. Plus do you all realise that the towing capacity from the makers is a recommendation & not directly enforceable in law? High Way Code rule 98 My bold & underline. Should not is not directly enforceable in itself.
  22. If its just the tow capacity that is making choices hard take it to a specialist that can upgrade it to the full 3500kg.
  23. Re cable attachment points. The law says that all tow bars fitted after 2012 must have a makers fitted attachment point. (one big towbar maker disputes this & says its the towbar design date that counts not the fitting date) If the point is fitted it must be used or a secure alternative. If no makers point is fitted it is permissible to loop over the ball if not better option is available. On most vehicles the fitted point would allow the cable to drag on the floor. I use a loose cable tie around the rubber gaiter to hold the cable up & pass the cable through the tow bars frame. On pick ups beware looping over the big round bar as the cable can move to the end on a tight bend & stick which will then apply the brakes when you straighten.
  24. Belt and braces as they know most people just wont maintain and service the trailer as often as they should.
  25. As the maker. The trailer base makers say they should work. I would not buy a traier that the parking braked only worked for 50% of the time.
