  1. Well I am 100% sure I am right. That is ONLY once you PASS your BE test. Then its real weights. Your B licence has limits in reguard to MAM of vehicle & Trailer.
  2. Brakes are NOT part of the legislation. They can be a lazy way to know if you can tow it or not as all trailer with no brakes MUST be sub 750kg so by default you can tow it. You could have a vehicle with a 2000kg MAM & then tow a trailer with a 1500kg MAM that would have brakes.
  3. How do you know if you need a trailer towing licence or not? First off DO NOT listen to the bloke down the pub. He wont pay your fine when his advice is wrong. Ask your self these 3 simple questions:- 1, Did I pass my car test after 01-01-1997? 2, Is my trailers maximum legal weight over 750kg? 3, Does the total maximum legal weight of my car (MAM) & trailer (MAM or MLPM) total more than 3500kg? If you answered YES to ALL 3 questions you need a towing licence. When answering question 3 you need to look either at the cars V5 or the weight plate & the weight plate of the trailer. On the Cars weight plate it is the top number you need. Add that to the trailers max legal weight MAM (MPLM for caravans) You can not use the kerb or real weights of the car or trailer. Even if the trailer is empty it is still the max legal weight that is used. If you are in any doubt ASK us on here or via FB messenger not the bloke down the pub. http://m.me/TrailerTrainingCymru
  4. This is the one my mate uses on his bandsaw.
  5. I am sure the PTO max speed is 480 rpm. 60c is not hot for oil.
  6. You are dissing the wrong people. Its not the DVSA but the DVLA that are responsible for licences & vehicle registrations.
  7. I used to have a self move towable digger. It could / would do all that I asked of it. Yes a bigger machine would be quicker but this thing could be towed by a small family car. like this one Mantis towable digger, Benford ME130 excavator Fleming Micron, Powerfab, Gopher, Roughneck, Smalley, digger, excavator, dumper, backhoe
  8. I was basing it on the £6 chain. How much work time is lost due to sharpening time on site compared to swapping it time? If it takes 10 mins to sharpen how long to change a chain 2 mins? Loosing 8 mins times X sharpens per day per person per saw? 1 sharpen per hour = a 13% loss of actual working time per hour. How many £1 plus files per chain life? You might pay the worker £x but are charging them out at £y. Crazy I know but its good to look at it from a different angle sometimes. Not just do things cos thats the way it has always been done. Lots of stuff now is easier & cheaper to replace than maintain / service / fix.
  9. I wonder if anyone has done a full cost / benefit analysis on the two side? IE cost of new chains & the cost of paying you or your employees to fit them versus The cost of the files & the time taken for them to be sharpened. I would expect the biggest cost in both cases to be the wages / lost time & not the chains / files.
  10. How much per bay?
  11. Thats a 33% increase. Surely they dont stretch that much? The smaller the fixed container (wheelie bin) the less it will hold or big odd shaped bits compared to its actual volume.
  12. The great thing about the WP is that it lifts the logs for you (with the extra lifters) without needing a log deck or digger or similar to load the deck.
  13. The wp 30. Same cut size just slightly less splitting power (but slightly faster cycle times). I use the WP30.
  14. We hire our WP30 with operator but travel costs might be a bit much getting to you.
  15. I only use one PC. Never use it in safe mode not even sure if it can use the wifi if it is in it. If it was PC based then it would happen on other sites. I would say that my use of the internet would be sub 5% on Arbtalk. The chance of it being just chance making it happen only here must be like winning the lotto. The MS scan finished & found no faults at all.
  16. Sadly you are miss informed. Whilst it is true you can register it as you see fit it is the use that defines what it is. Just like farmers cant use the tractor to do haulage or even go to the shops for the weekly food. So if stopped cutting the local parks grass (or other non agri stuff) after driving it on the road you will need it to be taxed, MOTed (actually inspected) running on tax paid fuel etc etc.
  17. Locks my chrome up as well. Only happens on here. Must be linked to Arbtalk in some way. AVG does not find anything. Running the latest microsoft scanner now, 9 hour in & not found any issues yet.
  18. Agricultural tractors are free tax. This is for private non agricultural use. Also worth knowing that dep on weights (over 3500kg MAM) you might not be able to drive a tractor used for non agricultural purposes on a cat B licence.
  19. I'm ex IT too. Thats the thread that tipped me over the edge to post this too.
  20. Is anyone else having issue with Arbtalk & it throwing up a page like this. It only ever happens when I am on Arbtalk. I have done all the scans to see if I have an infection.
  21. I would dispute that. Less air gaps = less air flow. More contact patches etc etc. Re getting more in its only about a 1 to 1.2 factor.
  22. 1, I live in a wood, we have no main gas, elec or water. 2, We were talking about deliveries. Why spend time stacking? No one will pay you extra to neat stack. Do you neat fill your bags or trailers?
  23. I have a life. I work to live not live to work. Why spend time neatly stacking logs when I could for example spend quality time with my family?
