  1. We need checks like in I think Japan. Each year they get harder. Its the reason we get so many grey imports. If I remember right each component is colour coded. Each year you have to change one colour. Then as the years go up its two colours or three colours. Eventually its to costly to keep it.
  2. That pic is right for lorries over 12m But for ones under 12m (IE BE vehicle & trailer) the bay is the same length as the vehicle & trailer. Plus B to Z is now 2 times the length not 3.
  3. This is a real client doing the maneuver for the 4th time during training. https://www.facebook.com/TrailerTrainingCymru/videos/1797129693880662/ I have also attached the exercise area & the legal requirement for rearward view. LGV_PCV_BE_manoeuvring_exercise_area_diagram.pdf
  4. Last question first. IF brakes are fitted they must work on all wheels even if the trailer is under 750kg. Trailer over 750kg MUST have brakes, ones under it can have them if you want. So yes you could derate the trailer to allow it to be towed. However the reality is that you might get pulled if your young employee is pulling what looks to be a heavy trailer with a heavy vehicle.
  5. The age limits for everyone have been reduced. Not to the same age but closer.
  6. During the war you can get an exemption to drive any vehicle for operational needs. She would also have had a C1E licence so 7500kg trucks were ok & back then the restriction did not apply so it was the full 12000kg GTW. Plus fire tenders have exemptions.
  7. I guess a transit can take 1000kg & most 3500kg trailer will take 2-2500kg. So about 3000kg plus payload. 7500kg trucks need C1 & C1E not C or CE.
  8. Your out of date the gearbox procedure has gone Its all auto boxes now for LGV / PSV.
  9. Big list. Most would fail the hitching & unhitching. Some on the reverse but not many of the experienced ones (some tractor drivers cant do it) All would fail on the drive for things like effective obs mirror use anticipation use of speed speeding appropriate speed Lane choice at junctions / roundabouts On a 1 hour assessment (remember the full test is about 90 mins) which includes a bit of talk & some coaching to see if they can fix faults easily once identified (more on that later) most would rack up about 4 serious or dangerous fails. Add in the fails for the hitch & you are looking at 4-7 fails on a 1/2 test. Re identified faults. I am not too worried with where they are but if they can respond to training quickly.
  10. No idea. Is it a lorry or agri registered? What does the weight plate say? Do you have any other licence apart from the B BE C1 C1E D1 D1E? If not and its not agri then I will assume that it is a sub 7500kg Mog so GTW will be limited by your licence to 8250kg. GTW is based on real weights. This could be miles out as I dont have enough facts to work on.
  11. Only if the relay kit is not LED suitable. When I changed my trailer to LED I had already fitted a suitable kit to my car with the wifes car would not work with them. Till I changed her cars relay I actually wired up standard lights in parallel inside the box trailer so the LED ones would work properly. Basically using the lights as the resistors which are mimicking real lights lol.
  12. Had you been pre 97 car test then you could tow a real 3250kg behind the real 5000kg MH.
  13. You should have done:- B then C then CE. Would only have been a little more cost.
  14. Rep some rules just dont add up. If its just for the motorhome then do C1E
  15. You would need to either take C1E to be allowed a GTW of 12000kg & the trailer actually cant weigh more than the vehicle using real weights. (I think min arctics are exempt but its not my area so would need to check) OR Take CE & then technically its unlimited GTW for your licence but there are some C&U limits that apply that reduce it. Plus the trailer can weigh more than the vehicle.
  16. Dont shoot the messenger but its only 750kg.
  17. Roughly half of all my customers are towing illegally already. ALL of them would have failed the test without taking training. So far I have not had a single customer ready for the test when they came to me.
  18. I had one customer that took their test on the first day of the new system.
  19. This law change has now been active for over 20 years. Some of you wont even have been born when it started.
  20. Lol Its the training that bulks the cost up. Just turning up you would almost certainly fail.
  21. Which is why the law was changed to stop exactly that situation of people being legal but no training to do it. If you think BE is costly dont expand & need C1 C1E C or CE you will **** your pants. Its the same test just in bigger vehicles.
  22. Dep on the amount of training thats cheap.
  23. No the test costs £115 The training costs more.
  24. That would depend. They would have to weigh you to prove over weight. They only have to add two numbers up to prove no licence. Most people done for no towing licence are not overloaded at all. However if you were then yes I would expect you to get done for that too. Just like they will also do you for no insurance if you do not have the correct licence. The points & fine for both offences will just about make you un insurable for a long time for a sensible cost.
  25. I bet your customers feel the same about a few little cuts to get a tree down lol. Like most things its knowing where & when to make those cuts. Did you feel the same about getting your car licence or your saw tickets?
