It IS over 3500kg as soon as you add a trailer. Vehicle in this definition INCLUDES the trailer weight. The reason a disco does not need it is due to an exemption for dual purpose vehicles not its weight. The transit might need it dep on exemptions. All BE licences gained on or after 19-1-2013 are limited to 3500kg trailer weight.

This is ONLY for cat B licences. I'm not quite sure why you think I disagree with you or any of what Rog has put. You seem to be misreading what I am saying.

The info in that is wrong. There is NO 12000kg limit for a cat BE pre 2013 licence.

BE IS limited IF it is post 2013. Tacho & O licence use TOTAL weights so a cat B vehicle that is 3500kg WILL need both if towing anything, a 2000kg one will need it IF towing 1501kg. It matters not if you have a pre or post 97 or 2013 licence re Tacho & O licence. If you can find a Cat B vehicle with a high towing capacity then a pre 2013 Cat BE licence holder can drive it. PS VOSA do not exist any more its DVSA. I dont need their opinion I know what the law says.

Re the 4 tonnes vehicle on a C1E. If its a wagon and trailer then the real weight of the trailer cant be more than the real weight if the vehicle. If its an artic unit different rules apply.

All this down plate to beat the tacho and O licence wont work. The weights used are the total train weights. As soon as it goes over 3500kg you need them except if an exemption applies.

The page you linked to is as per most gov sites a simplified version of the law. This page give fuller details. https://www.gov.uk/driving-licence-categories

Which exemption are you using? Ps your the one that said it was to get round the tacho and olicence not me.

If you hold a pre 2013 BE licence then your towing weight is unlimited. However the vehicle must be rated to tow the amount you have it plated at.

You wont get round any tacho ir o licence rules as they use the total train weight inc trailer.

You cant drive 12000kg on a pre 97 licence. You are limited to 8250kg. As you will have the 107 restriction. To remove it taking the c1e test after passing the medical, theory and mod tests plus you will need the cpc.
  15. Not had it for a while but to be honest not been around as much lately as it was peeing me right off.
  16. That was my thought.
  17. American hitches / trucks have huge nose weight limits compared to ours.
  18. Any idea what they charge to hire that out?
  19. Bit far for just 15 tonnes. Travel time / costs would kill it for me.
  20. I wonder if the fact that the processor uses hydraulic oil for bar lube plays a part?
  21. Used one for the first time today on the wp30. Huge amount of stretch needed taking up after doing about 8m3. Seems to cut ok & looks in good condition after doing 14m3. Not a hard test by any measure. Just very surprised by the amount of stretch.
  22. Illegal to pay a self employed person the right amount of money? I think you missed my point. Most companies make people go SE to save money on wages. If done morally there should be no saving. Or the subbie is taking the hit & actually getting paid less than an employee.
  23. Your pay to him as a self employed persons should include those elements any way. Not just minimum wage or living wage or even better. Plus some for holiday & sickness too. IE if you pay an employee £10 then a subbie should get £10 PLUS 1/13Th for holidays PLUS 10% for NI plus X% for possible sickness PLUS X% for the insecurity of the job.
  24. Not been on enough to know. Will open a few pages & see.
  25. Check out my new flow chart for finding out if you need a BE Towing licence or not.
