Used one for the first time today on the wp30. Huge amount of stretch needed taking up after doing about 8m3. Seems to cut ok & looks in good condition after doing 14m3. Not a hard test by any measure. Just very surprised by the amount of stretch.

Illegal to pay a self employed person the right amount of money? I think you missed my point. Most companies make people go SE to save money on wages. If done morally there should be no saving. Or the subbie is taking the hit & actually getting paid less than an employee.

Your pay to him as a self employed persons should include those elements any way. Not just minimum wage or living wage or even better. Plus some for holiday & sickness too. IE if you pay an employee £10 then a subbie should get £10 PLUS 1/13Th for holidays PLUS 10% for NI plus X% for possible sickness PLUS X% for the insecurity of the job.

yep, not as often as it was but still happens.

If its all odds & sods then processors lose their advantage. You spend more time feeding it than working it. If the bits are short then the lifters on the WP wont work so you end up manually lifting it all.

Yep, I guess there will be others out there too. IE the 5th wheel modifications. Or some companies can up rate the specs to allow more capacity too.

Yep tests on or after 19th January 2013 are limited to 3500kg.

Had a reply. Its an issue with the website. They have no time scale of when it will be put right. All BE prior to the 2013 change is unlimited trailer weight subject to vehicle being speced to tow that amount.

I sent them a question re this. Stupidly I sent two questions at the same time. The reply just says its a mistake on the system & they are getting it changed. I have asked if that applies to both of my questions & to every other pre 97 licence I have ever checked. Still waiting for that reply.

You class one (CE?) is not a factor in this as the minimum weight it applies at is 3500+ kg. So you are driving on your BE licence. When did you pass your BE test or the test that gave you BE IE B pr 97 or the CE.

First off, what licence do you hold & when did you get it? You have to comply with two set of rules. C & U plus licencing.

Your right. So far I have drawn a blank finding any hard facts. I will now send a question to the tech line. I try not to ask them till I already know the answer.

They do now even on pre 97 licences.

10 tonnes would never return (30 x £65) £1950 in sales. Not round here any way.

That would then just depend on how you run your business. Buy all your stock in one season & sell it in another will be very different to buy & sell within a short time frame. When i did firewood & was Vat registered every return was a refund. Even though the big purchases were in one season there was always enough other purchases to cover more than the sales. That & planning when to make the bigger purchases.

But overall you will still be making a reclaim. All your purchases are at 20% & all your sales are at 5%. You would have to sell 4 times more than you bought. So in winter yes you might make a payment to them in your peak selling period. You will have already claimed all the input costs back prior to that on a previous return. You would have to be selling at a factor of over 4 to on balance be paying more vat to them that you claim back.

If your just doing firewood and your markup is less than a factor of X4 then all Vat returns will be a reclaim.
