  1. nice pics...groundies been working hard by the look of it, nice clear area. Any finished pics..?
  2. I had some old grumpy dude moaning at me today because we had 2 vans parked on HIS street...laugh, walk away. Some people have nothing better to do.
  3. nice pics, chip onto the floor jobs are always welcome. not tempted to fell the main stem in one?
  4. Ivy Job from Hell..!!
  5. bugger, I didn't see that one...anything interesting going on there??
  6. was that the little silver birch to the left of the stand..??..was stood there for a while whilst someone was showing a bloke how to use the hitch climber..
  7. looks like you had the weather for it, small drop zone presented a nice challenge. Much of a drag to the chipper..?? great pics btw.
  8. looks a very pretty knot...
  9. I think the bad points have already been spelled out in the other thread, so I won't add to that. 1 thing I liked at this show, which wasn't so good at ragley, was the layout of the forest demo section, it was a nice walk round, nicely laid out...you could spend a couple of hours in there no problem at all. Top marks to whoever was involved in setting that up...I spied a certain aeration guru had a great spot.
  10. that could have been us..lol. We made the exact same mistake, we searched and searched for half an hour before realising there was 2 entrances into 2 carparks...5 mins searching in the other one and we found it.. It looked alot different in the afternoon than it did when we got there at 830ish... brightly coloured helium balloon on a long piece of string next time i think...

there was next to nothing mate I think there was 2 stalls with a rope setup, both in a small birch. One was demo-ing an electric ascender, looked like a winch off the front of a land rover or something..lol..bargain price of 5000quid...looked like it was designed in mind of the inner city building rope access stuff...The other had a couple of ropes up a birch, and one of the pole climbing lads was showing someone how to use the hitch climber.... Last time I went to ragley hall there was 2 or 3 good demo's going on throughout the day..this time there was nothing, a change for the worst imo...
  12. never done one, what are the different disciplines in each then..??..throwline speaks for itself, what's the work climb..? and is the speed climb, pole climbing, or like climbing a 90footer from scratch..??

Went today and had a great day, demo section was impressive, watched some of the pole climbing and carving etc...why was there no climbing demo's..I like to watch some of the experts using lots of fandangled new kit...but none to be seen. Is this a sign of the times..??..or due to the lack of decent sized tree round the outside of the showground..?? big thanks to Jonesie, went round every single retailer whilst on the hunt for some new shiny bits for the bottom of my climbing bag, and jonesie was cheapest by a fair margin...with more discount on request.. cheers
  14. looks like it may work as a rope shortener on a lanyard..I wouldn't want to ascend on it tho.

    help!

HC is easy to find a shape in.....50% sounds alot but is that 50% of the crown or 50% in height..?? rest of your problems sound like something you should be asking the boss really...
  16. normally operate as a 3 man team, we regularly subbie to a firm in ledbury which can up that to 2x 5 man teams, depending on the job... trust jobs will often see us use 2 4 man teams..or 1 large team, maybe a couple of climbers and a ground crew with 2 chipper units..
  17. It's hard to digest the opinion of someone who so flippantly mocks those less fortunate than themselves. For all the highly intelligent, well educated responses you give on this forum, resorting to insults like that show your true colours. Shame on you.
  18. endless possibilities for a thread like this...lol just for the record apart from being deeply offended, I also lent you 40quid..
  19. you don't remember what you said to me then?
  20. I never meant that it was a cast iron, guaranteed to work, warning to everyone...I think it's pretty clear that James hoped it may serve as a warning to someone, anyone...Thats the way I read it. Take it for what it is and stop trying to heal the world...I'll be cutting and holding in the near future as most of the arbs on here will, and most of the students you spoke to as well...it's part of the job I am afraid. I think to the un-sceptical, the message that came across from James original post is what can happen when cutting and holding with crossed arms, of course we all know what CAN happen, but it may serve as a warning..(see what I did there)..for some of us to see a graphic photo of the consequences.

    upsy daisy!

Is that you pulling him out with the forwarder Mr. Edd?? bet he was glad to see you snapping away with the camera..:laugh1:
  22. what kind of films..?
  23. looks like a bee keeper..
  24. I think you need to read the paragraph again. He isn't implying a great big gash in his arm is positive, more-so that the thread serves as a warning to someone, anyone, who may be find themselves in a similar situation today/tomorrow/next week...
  25. chin up mate, the world's not such a bad place to be.
