  1. With a 3k budget I'd have a Vectra everytime. As a buyer you won;t get more for your money than that, terrible car if you are a seller, but value for money, it can't be beat. here you are, a 2.0 Dti with only 65k on a 53 plate. for less than three grand. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/784732.htm sorry I am late, what did you buy in the end..??
  2. Thats ok mate, It certainly doesn't feel anything like 13mm, more like 11. It will get used though, even if it's not by me. I like something a bit meatier for my main rope. We have 2 welly's to deadwood next week so will have another go with it then. The boss has recently bought a 40m sequoia rope from severnside safety, I quite like that tbh, nice feel in the hand and not too much stretch.
  3. Yeah, I do prefer the thicker ropes, they just feel better to me. And the blue streak I have been using has very little stretch at all which I also prefer.
  4. cheers Ian, gonna give it a chance and if I can't get on with it I may try some XTC, heard some good reports about that.
  5. Ever heard of Gary Gartland John..???...I reckon thats who it is.
  6. great music and editing once again... Love the way you get the noise from the hinge on each clip..
  7. and me please.
  8. Thankyou John. I will try some armor prus.
  9. I'll give it a bit longer, what cord are you guys using with it.?
  10. Right guys, I have been using nothing but Blue Streak for the last 5 or 6 yrs and love it...recently acquired some arbormaster rope from Ianleach and I have to be honest, I'm not a fan. Feels light, stretchy and thin...I should have stuck to what I am used to, damn me for trying something different. Does anyone else find this or am I alone? Should I bear with it or get shot..? anyone recommend a rope that has a nice girth, not too much stretch and is hardwearing..? thanks guys.
  11. I'd really want to find a way to put a crane in there. Have you looked into craning it down?
  12. we would have, but a pair of teeth came out of the stump grinder at 3ish, 2 blocks of teeth sit back to back and we only had a set of the front teeth, so no kit stops play..lol We are way ahead of shcedule so left the tractor boys there to finish off getting the timber out and me and stu came back to...err...give the van a clean.
  13. Yeah it all looks quite young but once they start competing a bit there'll be some thinning out to do I expect. Not found a decent set of waterproofs yet, I tend to take a spare t-shirt and top and just get on with it..
  14. Cheers dude, sounds right up my street that..
  15. Nice place to work by the look of those aerial shots, grounds look stunning. Do you get to do any other work there or just the hedges..?
  16. wow....that looks brilliant....what an end result! You must be happy with that. Love the buggy, is that yours or the landowner's..???
  17. Thanks Matt. The grapple has been brilliant, just cut out the all the hard work...used it ot pull each tree over as the weight was towards the fenceline on every single tree. Picked the tree up and took it to the chipper, can lift the end up and hold it slightly in the air to sned out and then pick the cord up and pop it straight onto the pile. Brilliant piece of kit. No more pics today, it has rained the whole day and it has turned into a mud bath, but we got all the timber out today and topped both hedgerows, and ground out about 220 stumps...reckon we have around 130+ stumps left for tomorrow and then just wait for the ground to dry out from the recent rain and then seed it. I'll grab a few finished pics when it's all been rotovated and seeded. All in all it's worked out quite well, and we have really been dreading it tbh.
  18. what is the spec.?
  19. cheers, there's quite a bit to do before the job is complete, but the worst is definitely over already. Today worked like clockwork.
  20. Tell me about it, I really dislike conifer..
  21. At the end of the first day we have removed and chipped all 65 tree's, started grinding, started topping the hedgerows and started extracting the timber. I'm pooped, more piccys to come tomorrow.
  22. .
  23. Well we started the conifer job today. original thread here.. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3304 Not been looking forward to it tbh. Due to the access being too narrow for Matt's chip truck's and the timescale involved in extracting the timber and tree's we went back to the original plan. Thanks again for coming Matt. spec is - 65 tree's to be removed on left, a million lengths of cord on right to be extracted to work area and stacked. 2 hedgerow's in work area to be topped. 350+ stumps to be ground out, entire strip of land to be rotovated and seeded. How the job looked before. Day 1.
