  1. don't know of any firewood merchants round here with any significant stockpile...everyone in the world has had a log burner installed I think.
  2. looks great. Can't hardly see any cuts so a good job done.
  3. what tree's..? I thought you would have submitted a picture from that beech takedown rupe...The ones on your website.
  4. I'm no comedian, although I did make someone laugh once. My point was that only you know the factors involved in that particular job, same as the person who sanctioned the work on the tree in this thread. You can't see the whole story from just a photo on a screen.
  5. great pics so far... wow Tom, that is fantastic. What the hell is it..?
  6. great photo john.
  7. apologies if this is a general tree pics rip-off There are so many pics on the site, I think I've possibly trawled through most of them since joining. Some outstanding photography, settings and some great moments captured. After trawling through a few members galleries..(great feature btw)..I realised how many pics we all must have saved. We all must have a favourite, wether it is the backdrop, the scenery, the achievement or just a great tree to climb. Doesn't have to be the biggest or the most dangerous, just a great picture. I thought it would be nice to collect 1 pic per member in 1 thread. cheers Andy Mine - sycamore - Birdlip.
  8. Mike's right...tell wifey weds night playtime is over... How are you moving the larger pieces? everything slabbed and handballed out? If so, best of luck

Theres a huge cedar nr. Fladbury we worked on earlier in the year, at the same place as the dead chestnut vid above...It lost one of the top limbs in the winds and it took out 4 more on the way down, put it this way it took 3 of us a day and a morning to clear the mess and tidy up the tears, remove hangers etc..Over 100ft tall and looking sorry for itself..All you can do is let it get on with it and hope for the best.
  13. lots, although I have a feeling this photo was staged..

found one more.... Looks extreme, a line of 6 oaks along a large ditch..wind had blown 2 out and we were called in to take the tops right down on the remaining 4. A forestry crew came in to clean up afterwards.

  24. nice pics... so you were anchored into the tree on the left right..?..the whole time..?..and what is the pole in the last pic..??
  25. We as a company have been involved with quite alot of crane work, on our own jobs and as subby to another firm. Myself as a groundie lots, as a climber only a couple. I think the key is, with most things arb related, experience. It opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. We use a small 20t crane that is locally owned and operated in a host of different situations, we used it to take down a collapsed, hung up ash across a road just to anchor the climber whilst he shed it down and the groundies cleared as we went. We used it in a churchyard to remove a broken lateral limb over some gravestones, it didn't have the reach to put the climber in the tree but we could send a guy up on the hook to sling the branch and abseil down, leaving the climber with only the job of standing at the fork and making one cut. On the flip side we have used Jay and Davis on a number of occasions with machines upto 90t. Biggest lift so far was over 7 tonne...pretty impressive stuff.
