  1. yes mate...they take alot of excercise, particularly when young. They are an out and out pack animal so rely on company, no good if no-one is at home during the day. Intelligence and personality is second to none though imo, but I would say that..
  2. yes, it requires a bit of common sense when transporting chip/logs/brash etc....but you can fill it more than half with chip, with only the tailgate at the rear you can only fill it slightly more than half anyway, the overall cc of the box is not the capacity of woodchip it will hold, more a containment box for the spray from the chipper tbh. It may also look bigger in the photo's than it is in real life I think. It suits us anyway as a small firm, and the responsibility is ultimately with the driver of the vehicle.
  3. heres our transit with newly built back. We had a friend make it who has just started out on his own as a fabricator/welder. It was his first attempt at anything like this. It's neat, basic, very light, strong and a good price, 850quid built, painted and fitted. Rather than have the top fixed as well we are having a removable canopy made. The top of the chip box near the cab has been reinforced and used thicker sheet steel so we can stand on it if needed.
  4. they are only short...on you tube. Here are the links. [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6l3IO5SLeK0[/ame] [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=doqu4qeQSFs&feature=related[/ame] thanks for the comments.
  5. heres Storm...my 4 1/2 yr old husky.
  6. thank you, yes thats me on the hook but I didn't do the takedown...I was groundie / up and downie strop attach boy. Have done very little in the way of crane work at the moment but have dabbled and hope to do more when the chance arises.
  7. apologies...may be a victim of the old "believe all you hear" affliction..am open to suggestions of a more accurate age. I do have a couple of short vids of the last 2 lifts, we lifted a 7200kg lump out of the barn after finishing the takedown...no vid of that though, sorry...not very good at this am I? thanks for the welcome by the way. Too much interesting stuff on this site
  8. Hi, was content with being an anonymous member but thought I would share a couple of pics of a collapsed 700 yr old oak we cleared up recently, with the assistance of probably the best crane driver we have ever met...great days work. only a couple of pics after the work was done, none during sorry..up until then we were very busy, but you can see the cavity in the trunk. Great clients as well, lots of tea and sandwiches etc...can't beat that.
