  2. took him quite a while from what I remember, he set up a scaffold platform all round it. It was a huge tree at one time.

  4. thats pretty amazing mate. We have had a carver at work in pershore and evesham abbey parks...turning standing trunks of trees that had to be dismantled into carvings.....used to go and walk the dog down there so I could watch him at work for a bit

  8. no I hadn't, thanks for the link. The predator's really aren't sad though, c'mon. The 26 and 50 are brilliant, and the 75 is a monster.

  11. we've been using the predator grinders for a couple of years now..They are pretty awesome to be fair.
  12. good job, the crew look pleased with themselves in the last pic anyway.. is all your work in worcester or do you get out and about all over the county??. we are not far away but don't recall seeing your setup out on the roads at all, would have remembered that chipper for sure..
  13. I spent 4 yrs clearing railway embankments...hard work, good money...loooaaadddsss of health and safety/risk assessment type stuff. You doing/done pts courses yet?
  14. yeah, you couldn't have a tipper with the 6 point cage...2 arms go out towards the tailgate, through the floor and onto the chassis, 2 fixings behind the cab, and the two through the front wings...in fact you can't even get much in the back with one of these fitted, they're well practical...lol
  15. not amazingly difficult..once you have cut the holes in the right place, it's just a case of making some brackets, dropping the cage through the holes and fixing it down. You'll lift it out and drop it back in several times though, so get a decent rope system set up.

I had a V8 landy a few years ago, proper money pit and no mistake, I must have spent thousands on it in all, although it doesn't look like it from the picture 3.5 range rover engine..new lt77 gearbox, 6 point external roll cage, su carbs, electronic dizzy, uprated shocks and springs, 110 shafts, mach 5 wheels and bfg all terrains, spare set of dirt devils on some steelies, lots of underside protection, 2 K+N cone filters and a subaru impreza bonnet sccop...lol

  20. worcestershire. thanks for the info guys....I am fairly confident the owners of the tree would invest a reasonable amount towards the tree's health...but of course we first need to know the possibles causes/course of action.
  21. you see, we seriously looked at a 7.5 tonner...The problem is, with the other vehicles on the firm, we can only really afford to run one chip truck. Whilst on big jobs with no access issues the 7.5t would be great...on all the bread and butter type work, tight driveways etc...it just wouldn't be practical...the amount of work where the chip/firewood is staying on site added to the amount of jobs that require a smaller vehicle far outweigh the amount of jobs where a 7.5t would be useful. I'm sure this is more down to the firm (us) as an individual, than what is suitable for the profession as a whole.
  22. no, we have never taken it to a weighbridge. yes they are really heavy...and yes we can only half fill it with chips...any more and it spills over the tailgate, we have no back doors on it. I appreciate an internet forum is the perfect place to display an unwavering obligation to rules and regulations. As a small company we find the vehicle we have serves our purpose very nicely. I hope you don't get the impression we are driving round with a van load of kit, a full load of woodchip and a chipper on the hitch...as I said before it requires a bit of common sense using a 350 in our job. Planning ahead, several sites for storing woodchip/logs spread over a wide area, other options available should the need for carrying alot of weight arise..etc etc..are all things that can be implemented to assist a small firm with a small vehicle run a successful tree surgery firm. Could I honestly say we have never travelled over weight..??..no
