  1. considering my run up to christmas I would be up for a pint or several in the defford arms somewhere between boxing day and new year... from now until we break up for christmas I don't really have a spare weekend. how about sunday 28th dec? or monday 29th? tuesday 30th?
  2. Caparo T1 [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hu5MSkMfwao[/ame]
  3. I think that was the caparo wasn't it?
  4. good photo's mate, thanks for sharing:001_smile:
  5. well lets not forget then that it hasn't officially been tested on the top gear test track either...for whatever reason. I think it should be, but as of yet it hasn't. There may be insinuating circumstances for all we know, similar to porsche's comments on the nurburg lap time nissan recorded with the new gtr recently. They accused them of using semi slick tyres and race fuel etc..something which is controlled when top gear test cars themselves on their own track...did ultima do the same..??..I think they might of, the cheating barstewards...
  6. well they intended it to be the biggest poshest fastest most expensive grand tourer in the world so money doesn't really matter...and there are loads of ultima's out there...check out america's offerings, and the top 10-15 lap times on TG track. I would say though that I don;t understand the politics behind clarksons decision not to allow it to be tested on the show, it's far more of a road car than the atom for example. But a veyron it is not.. anywho, I've got work in the morning, good to see another petrol head on the site, even if he is wrong about stuff... night
  7. I've not driven either but when I do I will get back to you... Any car manufacturer out there can build a car that goes like the ultima if they wished, it's all about power to weight, thats it... Did you see the top gear episode when james may drove the veyron at 253mph down that test track..??..It was as smooth as silk, not a noise or wobble in sight...Did you watch the vid you posted above of the ultima rattling and squeaking it's way up to the lights on the way to the TG test track..?? Look at the top of the lap times board, the nearest GT to the veyron is the Mclaren merc at 1.20.9..and another 2secs down is ferrari's effort...The top 15 or so cars on that board are extremely light and extremely powerful, and the only one that sticks out form the crown is the veyron, and that is due to it having 1000bhp. It's a 2 tonne cruiser that does 0-190mph in 16secs...with no drama whatsoever.
  8. the trouble is you are trying to compare a race car and a road car...The ultima 720 is little more than a race car made road legal and dressed up. The veyron is 100% a road car, a grand tourer (GT).. It was never designed to go on the track. It was designed with a strict set of specifics in mind. To be 1000bhp, to do 250mph and to be as stable and refined as a rolls royce...something which teh ultima does not have to conform to. Lets be fair the ultima 720 is a pure thoroughbred race car, it has one of the, if not the, highest power to weight ratio's of any road legal production car...it's 900kg for gods sake...Thats the same as a citroen saxo..
  9. but the veyron is nearly a tonne heavier...
  10. but to be fair the ultima is just a seat and a shed load of horsepower, the veyron is a different ball game. I think it did well on the track considering the weight of the thing. The top gear track is designed by lotus, it favours cars that handle well. There are quite a few big power cars down the board that you would have thought would do well...the ferrari 575 for example did a 1.36, a massive 18secs slower than the veyron...The veyron was designed to be 1000bhp, and to be able to run that power all day long. It's a masterpiece imo..
  11. got plans tomorrow night...christmas drinky at defford arms gets my vote..
  12. Thanks Mike, was nice to be able to just send some big stuff flying and not have to clear it up after the conifer job the other day.. Only had one target, the boss, but he kept moving about....had a few smaller trees to miss but after the tops were out it was just stand on the fork with the big saw and send them all flying. Nice end to a sh1t week.
  13. Kemerton mate...don't know the name of the farm but it's got a huge Turkey Oak at the gates that is full of deadwood..could be the next project.
  14. There was loads when we had finished still attached and in one piece. funnily enough a few of the larger pieces found there way into the van. But the farmer sent the women down to get the rest...
  15. that's terrible, the whole lot in one go. Hope they get caught and the kit gets found mate.
  16. Pollarded a nice big poplar today for a farmer...he went for the cheapy cheap cheap quote of "stick it on the deck and walk away"....oh joy. It was situated right on the edge of a lake bank, root plate was lifting at the back...sorry tree lovers, it had to go. unfortunately the video quality is rubbish, but that's the norm for me. Requires a tilt of the head for the last clip. [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LRCQiyqy9Ik[/ame]

    Nightmare.

The gaffer priced it, been doing this for 22yrs iirc. We all make mistakes I suppose and you would have had to climb up inside it to see the brash. Just one of those things, you either walk away and tarnish your reputation or suck it up and do the job as agreed.
