  1. Hi all Yeah, did a pop up and a muffler mod to my 560, and it went like hell, and i mean like hell!!! The only saw that had half a chance with it was a 395, which had also been ported. Software wise, not much of an issue but there is a nack to doing it. I haven't put any vids up or mentioned much about it, but all i can say is, my saw will be at the UK logging competition. And ive currently got another brand new saw never seen timber sat in the shed which has all the mods done to it, and it maybe going on ebay, as it was built for a customer who hasnt paid up. After the Royal Welsh i'll put a couple of videos up. The test we ran was a piece of highbred poplar, 15" in diameter. I ran the saw with an 18" bar and a brand new stihl super chain. We also ran an 18" bar and chain which was brand new on the 395. Seriously boys and girls, a modded 560xp will not be beated on power to weight for a long long time.
  2. Hi there, 5 Airmob, then 16 air assualt. A little trip to Bosnia, a little trip to Sierra Leone. Best thing i ever did and i absolutly loved it.
  3. What i quoted before is whats needed to make it totally fair. What i forgot to say was, they choose the same saw and they can mod it anyway they wish to and the fastest man wins. Hence the new chain, same bar size etc etc. Its down to the builder. He who makes the faster saw is the winner!
  4. Well just had a quick look through this. These 2 should settle it the old fashioned way. 2 saws the same make and model, fitted with the same size bars and 2 brand new chains, lets say oregon lpx, 2 13" logs, 1 combi bottle between the 2 and 2 stop watches. RACE, RACE, RACE, RACE!!!!!
  5. Go for the 390, forget the 395, its a bit of a lump to work with all day. 660, nice saw but ive got to say my 390 will smoke both of these saws. My 390 only ever pulls a 42" skipped out stihl super chain with an 8 pin power mate, and has done for the past 12 1/2mths. All it had was a woods exhaust mod and skimmed pot to up the compression. Really happy with it and ive hammered the living daylights out of it, including on a chainsaw mill. The 390 really is acceptable to a tune more than the 660 is anyway. Just my input, cheers, Pete.
  6. Hi all the iron horse has gone to a new home sorry to all who were interested in her.... Thanks for the intrest..
  7. Hi all Ive had a lot of interest in this iron horse, it must be the rise in low impact logging and the fact that this is over £10,000 new. All ive said is first to £1500 gets it. Im not really fussed if i sell it or not as i dont need the cash and its not in the way. Its a good little tool as shes set up in the pictures, the bolsters are 2.5ft tall and i put 10ft lengths on, and she can pretty much track out of anywhere, where i can walk. Everything works as it should, forwards, backwards, neutral and diff lock. The engine gets serviced yearly and all moving parts get greased once a week when in use. It scurrently getting used to ferry my son who is 2 1/2yrs old around the back field around the house!!! So it has a weekly outing The rest of the time it lives under a tarporlin. It does need a boggie cog at the back in a perfect world, there £68 new and can be sent out next day as there in this country. It takes around 10mins to put on as long as you have a high lift jack. I do have the boggie cog but the center is knackered. It has a bump on the front handle but we're talking the size of a 10 pence piece. The emergency stop and everything else is in working order. If you want to know any more just pm me. Many thanks Pete

  14. Hi all, My good friend George, who also climbs for me, has had a stihl ms341, 2010/11 model stolen. It has a slight nick in the front chainbreak and the air box cover has a crack in it. The theiving bas***d smashed the back of his defender backdoor and helped themselves to it whilst it was parked outside in his garden. Theres a reward of a crate of beer for any info leading to the recovery of the said saw. He is wrexham based, any leads or any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Pete.
  15. Morning all, I had a 7900 which was a Dolmar, only difference was, was it was orange and no decompretion. Really nice saw, flys right out the box, very acceptable to an exhaust mod. Mine lasted 4 years of production felling and i really did hammer the crap out of it. Power to weight is unbeatable. If you speak to Tim at TCF Engineering, the man who makes the brash trollies, he has both the 7901 in a DIY blue and grey colour and an all out forestry saw in the beautiful orange in stock and ready to go. If you speak to him kindly he also offers an out the box modded saw consisting of big bore kit and a really sweet exhaust mod. If you tell him Peter Hughes sent you, he'll do an even sweeter job on the exhaust mod.
  16. Hi All, Im doing a 560xp at the moment and will be putting a vid up. We've all seen these saws on you tube cutting biscuits saying there ported etc etc. Most of these saws would last half the morning if you took them to work. The trick here is to make the saw run better and more efficiently without the need to having a constant supply of pot and pistons. Depending on what you plan on doing with the saw, a tourge tune is sometimes better than flatout rpm. What im trying to say is, if the saw isnt capable of earning you money, whats the point of having the saw? Just my thoughts this morning.
  17. Hi have a look at this Item number: 170746676292
  18. Morning guys and girls, Popped over to see Tim yesterday to have a look at the Dolmar5105. Had a quick go on it. It Revs really well, like a well tunned 346, but with the grunt of a 357. I found the antivibe to be really good to be honest. I ran it with a 15" bar and chain combo. I hammered it in a larch plantation for an hour and i was impressed with the saw. Nice balance and a good all round saw. I will be having one of these as my next saw.
  19. i would think its Air or carb prob...be prepared for can of worms.
  20. Hi where are you based?? could meet up . Pete..
