  1. These are worth a look too - https://www.johnadamssupplies.co.uk/
  2. I have used Aalco - really good setup, loads of info on their website. I think they price by weight from memory so the price changes with metal value. http://www.aalco.co.uk/literature/files/aalco-stocklist.pdf
  3. You can get a plain top plank so you don’t need to cap it - just cap the ends as you are doing. I’ve never built an ali floor but do have a couple of tippers with them - they are light but dent pretty easily. For the marginal weight increase I’d be inclined to go with easy peasy steel personally, but totally see where you are coming from doing it properly!
  4. Just be ready for a bit of movement/bending/twisting from galvanising. And make sure you drill plenty of drain holes to allow the zinc in/out of your box section.
  5. If you can fabricate/weld etc then salvage/repair your subframe, tipping floor and corner posts (all in steel). Then get ali planks to the correct size with the correct channel profiles to close the ends, clip them together (they can need a bit of persuading to clip in - don’t be gentle but make sure you don’t wreck them!) and then bolt the sides and headboards to your steel corner uprights. The ali board panels are strong enough to not need full framing. Tail gate build the same way out of ali and bolt steel hinge pieces on (weld the other halves to your rear corner posts). You’ll do it for less than £2k I reckon.
  6. Check your fuel filters too. Is it down on power at all? Does it sound rough? What colour is the smoke?
  7. Paint to match your vehicle tipper body (not specific vehicle paint, just the cheapest slap-on paint you can find that is close in colour to your tipping body) - chuck a few coats on. With all the will in the world plywood sides won’t last for ever (particularly if you leave woodchip in there for prolonged periods of time). Even not well looked after you should get 18 months-2 years out of 18mm wbp before it needs replacing though.
  8. 18mm wbp for the sides and headboard, 12mm will be fine for the roof.
  9. Plywood? If so, 3x 8x4 sheets will get you a decent sized box (4x if you want a roof).
  10. A touch awkward.... He did start it though in fairness!
  11. Check the air filter isn’t blocked.
  12. Can you not offer him an olive branch and let him run it under your drive? Root damage would be minimal, you would get a resurfaced drive, you might become friends again? Next thing you know it’s keys-in-a-bowl time etc etc.
  13. Brilliant, thanks! I’d still buy one if you ever make another batch by the way!
  14. Oi Bob @aspenarb - any chance of re-uploading the pics of this barrel pump setup please? I can’t open them anymore!!
  15. How much for a regular crate of whatever beer locals drink?
  16. That is expensive, wowsers! In the UK it is pretty normal to get 10% off Ifor Williams list price when buying new. The overall cost of ownership tends to be relatively low for Ifor Williams too - they sell for big money second hand for some reason.
  17. Because Brian James are shit in my experience. But not £2k shitter, so he bought the right trailer! @The dogwalker - are there any locally made equivalents or have the British cornered the market over there? An Ifor dealer over here reckons they sell a lot in Europe as they are cheap compared to what’s available on the continent.
  18. Very pragmatic outlook, good stuff! To be fair to Brian James they will only buy those pumps in, they don’t make them. (I still think you should have bought an Ifor Williams though!). This thread has done nothing to improve my view of Brian James...
  19. On a brand new trailer? What has the dealer got to say about it? Surely they have a new pump mechanism on the shelf, it should only take half an hour to fit. If not, have they got a trailer you can use until it is fixed?
  20. I understand that - it goes a lot further than 50000 employees though as there will be many many more employed in the supply chain. It’s still an incredible number for one manufacturer though imo.
  21. The thing that surprises me the most about this is that Rolls Royce employs 50000 people building aircraft engines!!! How many engines are they building?!
  22. Furlough scheme is doing similar, and also deferring mass redundancies imo.
