  1. If the fuel hauliers put their truck drivers’ wages up in line with Tesco’s etc then they would still have staff. It’s not really a difficult concept.
  2. It’s only because you are Northern mate - no point in asking any shandy-drinkers as they wouldn’t be able to pull it round like that. It’s probably fine!
  3. My reference to the prv was the assumption that there is one factory-fitted to the unit, which would allow the saw’s progress through the cut to be moderated to not stall the saw/damage the bar etc. What actually happens if you try to cut timber?
  4. Which insurer are you with who are willing to cover crane hire out of interest? PM if you prefer.
  5. Have you tried it in timber, or is it just too fast cutting with no load? Does the saw stall in timber? I’d imagine that ram should have a prv to allow it to keep a constant pressure on the bar without stalling the chain - the speed of the bar closing is almost irrelevant as it will slow when it pushes against the timber.
  6. Yes, that will be fine. If any of your near neighbours have poplars they may be saddened through!…

  8. If you end up keeping any (but not all) of the poplars then I’d suggest not using Glyphosate/Ecoplugs on the stumps of the trees you remove as you may inadvertently also poison the retained trees due to root grafting (only an issue with same-species neighbouring trees).
  9. Cheap and simple if it’s within range is a baby monitor in the shed with the other half with you in the house. Layers are everything - don’t tell anyone how you’ve set it all up. Make it difficult to access/egress (not just the shed itself, make it difficult to actually get to) and use bespoke (home made) layers to add confusion. Security lights/alarm/dogs/bear traps/ quicksand/anything that will alert you and slow the thieving rats down (it doesn’t have to cost a fortune). The fewer people that know about the possibility of valuable kit being stored on site the better - a sign written van, piles of logs and woodchip etc on show are pikey-magnets.
  10. I wasn’t coming from an ‘is it strong enough’ point of view, more an ‘is it legal’ consideration.
  11. From a very boring direction how heavy is the mill, and will the addition of a hydraulic power pack overload axle weight etc?
  12. Sharp well made buggers they are - I use them on my sheep.
  13. Does the moulder also create the D shape? How long does it take to swap between knives/shapes?
  14. ‘Now - if you’ll apologise to my mule, like I know you’re going to…’
  15. Ah ha ha, thank god - I’m out of the country and had visions of returning next week to some sort of post-apocalyptic wasteland!
  16. Disappointed they didn’t market then as cunnels- I reckon they’d have sold loads more…
  17. You can’t see that much steel on the inside walls of my Clearviews as they are lined with fire bricks. Any exposed steel is rusty though, yes.
  18. I’ve got a couple of clearviews - the baffles are actually wear-items and need replacing every couple of years as they corrode (and also warp). Rust inside a stove is simply one of those things IMO.
  19. Ace little dogs - friends had a pack of them, fierce little buggers!
  20. I’m amazed it isn’t more rusty if you’ve been using it. Inside the firebox will always go rusty - no coating (paint etc) will withstand the heat generated by a running log burner. There’s nothing wrong with it.
  21. Hi - I’m looking for someone/a contact who could mow off a site in Atherstone for me in the next couple of weeks? It was mulched in March and just wants the regrowth knocking back (nothing woody). It doesn’t need a pretty finish - the client just needs to be able to see what they’ve got for surveying purposes. Any interest/leads, please contact me on here. All the best, Dan
  22. How do all! I need a team for a couple of days tree/vegetation removal on a construction site in Grimsby - nothing big to come out, all arisings to be removed from site. The work needs doing in the next week or so. If anyone has availability and fancies it please drop me a line on here. Cheers, Dan
