  1. 1. A valid point is made and a thread started about it. 2. Pointless name calling, playground insults and general nonsense commence and point gets lost. Repeat ad infinitum
  2. You'd need background in the industry but teaching qualification wouldn't be essential. It would be great if you had one but it wouldn't preclude you in my experience
  3. Training requires you to meet the standard and obviously you need to be well versed in the assessment schemes to be able to get your candidates to the required level needed to pass. You wouldn't need formal qualifications to train someone, as long as you were showing the correct steps. Best bet would be to find a local training centre and see if you could get some support. To become an assessor you need to be technically evaluated by a technical verifier from City and Guilds. As stated, you need to get 4 or 5's out of 5 in a number of different categories. You then need to complete a standardisation event and complete an assessor course. PM if you need more info
  4. Remember that you're trying to manipulate the rope, if you've gone wrong somewhere or a measurement is slightly out, there isn't any space for the rope to go into. No amount of force or strength can change that one. If you're in any doubt, cut it off and do it again. Make sure you're zeroing out the core and the cover too. Good luck!!
  5. I wouldnt want too tight of an eye on a traditional DB splice as it just seems too bunched up for me. I'm not a fan of super super tight bends in DB eyes
  6. That eye does look small. How big did you want it to be?
  7. Have you been away?
  8. Definitely ancient Egypt as well
  9. Mat Armstrong channel is class. I watched all of these as well. Very good https://youtu.be/ML4tw_UzqZE
  10. Building Stonehenge and the Pyramids. Romans would be cool to see as well. Good question
  11. Just put all the choppers on ignore. Would much rather be in here than the Facebook group. There are a few absolute strokers in here but nothing compared to Facebook and the whoppers on there
  12. Forgot about this in the mayhem of presents and cooking! Usual socks and slippers but also got a torque wrench for my bike and some tickets to see a singer I've always wanted to see and who hardly ever tours so chuffed with that. Best part of the day was watching girls open theirs and having lunch with parents. Hope everyone had a decent day!!
  13. Give him a pruning saw and take him up the tree with you and I'd say you're good to go mate. If you're sending him up with a saw on his own in the tree, I'd argue that he should be on a climbing course already
  14. Tachyon SpLife. Used rope as per! Much easier than the other version

    WTF

Any money that he was a professional logger doing a favour for a friend/foreigner cash job.
  16. Haha. We had a job from hell where anything that could have gone wrong, did. The straw that broke the camels back was tipping off the chip and couldn't find the pin for the chipper. So 4 of us spent 45 minutes in the dark digging through the chip pile looking for it. Turns out one of the lads had put it on the side of the chipper for safe keeping then forgot. Took a while to see the funny side😄
  17. 100% agree. I guess the call to act like a knob online is too tempting for some though
  18. Think England will start slowly, then pick up a bit of momentum and probably go out in quarters or semis. Not really got into it yet but once it starts I'll get a bit more engaged I suppose
  19. Some splicing for @321afc Happy with how these came out Marlow 16 strand, Tachyon and Drenaline. All used
  20. Experienced Bi-sexual
  21. Remember you will need to inform your insurance company that you are taking a work experience placement on. You've said it as well that they should be trained in whatever they are using, however, make sure that you are doing your own assessments of them at the start of any jobs. You could find that the person doing the checks or the visit doesn't actually know the student and is office based and just says "oh yeah, they're fine"
  22. https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/15992-spliced-tachyon/#comments
  23. The splicer said they could do it and they were clearly unfamiliar with that type or splice so basically did what they thought was right and it was nowhere near suitable for life support. It looked like it wouldn't hold a boat, let alone a person!
  24. Yeah, my Meindls went like that, thats why I swapped to these. I just think it takes the piss a bit that we're spending a fortune on kit that is failing pretty quick through no user error. I would get it if I was spending the day on concrete and wore the sole away but for it to crumble pretty quick on 250 quid boots after very little use, I think its a bit poor
