  1. about 4 or 5 years ago now, had to fell willows for cricket bats-told to do lowest, shallowest gob safley possible-less wastage, side cut the ears of the hinge, bore in letterbox cut, and as the tree falls, cut remainder of hinge so none of the fibers are pulled out, damaging the wood in the trunk as for angles of cuts, a nice big open one to hold the hinge for aslong as possible, or a shallow one when you need the hinge to break early order doesnt matter, although doing the angle cut first, when you do the horizontal cut, you can look down the 1st cut, watching the chain cut so as not to cut to far

  5. bearing in-mind the over the counter stuff is around 10mg in strength, these are 180mg
  6. tellfast 180mg is what you want mate, before these, i used to have 3 pills a day, eye drops and nasal spray, now just pop one of these, and im sorted! lasts into the 2nd day too-handy if you forget to take them! i almost gave up on finding a cure, untill my sis used them. only available on prescription, explain to your doc youre job, and that alone should be enough for them to prescribe it.
  7. send them youre C.V anyway, atleast then if they do need more workers, theyve got a way of contacting you
  8. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-TRANSIT-TIPPER_W0QQitemZ220363177124QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Commercial_Trucks?hash=item220363177124&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 1300 atm, looks clean enough, only 9yr old bit of work to do-not much though, add some sides and away you go
  9. thats how i started-3weeks in B&Bs!
  10. it works for the road builders, construction, demolition boys caravan-easier to move/transport/store
  11. when i went from standard wheels on my landrover (205R16) to slightly oversized (31x10.5) i wondered this too, borrowed a gps, and the speedo was dead accurate to the gps reading-guessing the original speedo under-read!
  12. my reductions go by length-reduce the length of the branch by XX% to nearest suitable growth point, then if that growth point needs reducing/thinning, to keep a good shape so be it! so for me, doing a 25% reduction, a 4M branch would go to 3M - thats whats easier for clients to understand too johns 30% looks like what id do for 30%
  13. vicky pollard??? phowarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  14. i think NPTCs mean naff all-theres plenty of people out there who have all the tickets, but are usless, and theres those who havent done any tickets who are simply awesome in a tree. in my opinion, its quality of workmanship to the standard relevant to the time (40 years ago had anyone heard of target pruning? lowering devices? CODIT?)
  15. done the one day course a few months back, near bury st edmunds, intresting but not overly helpfull for tree works!
  16. use an 023 and 020(tut-tut) for finer stuff, and an 046 for basic shapes for seats ect
  17. MR TEE aint no fool, lookin good!
  18. so what are you doing cerne?? personally if its one or the other, id go the praticle route, as my theory knowledge has improved through doing the praticle aspect of arboriculture, would be tempted to do the tech cert now ive done a few years climbing, as can understand things as have seen them rather than just been told about them! theorys the way to go for the future though
  19. im in! going to capel manor on the friday too! never competed before, are you allowed to free climb when/if the tree allows?
  20. working on the suffolk border today-melting snow was washing the road repairs away!
  21. what if the job hasnt access for big kit like cranes and lorrys?
