  8. depends what you want to do in a few years, if its only to be a groundie, with tickets, do the 1week, if you want to climb, learn abit of basic tree knowledge, including pest and diseases, identifying most common trees, bit of rigging, tree biology ect, the 10week is, imo a goot starting block to be a climber/go on to do further courses 10week is usally 2day practicle(felling climbing ect) 1 day maintenance(chainsaw, chipper, machinery) and 2 day theory many say the 10 week is a 2year National diploma condenced! hope this helps

  16. i do it free hand by eye, look at the witness mark at the bottem of the top face of the cutter, keep that angle, in fact, look at a new chain, and try to keep all angles the same-side view you should see a nice curve. if youre not getting a decenc curve, try raising or dropping the handle hand(i have one hand on the handle and one loosly holding the tip of the file) keep the cutters the same length both sides-or youll be cutting round corners! to do the depth gauges, again i just do one or two strokes with a flat file on each one, but a gauge may help you if youve not done alot before. most important thing is the correct size file, and sharp file! change for a new file every chain-no point making life hard! welcome to forum btw

  24. ive had that happen, just fell to bits, from memory, a black bit had sheared in the inside. anyone got a mod for the chain brake handle? keep knocking it and breaking the support leg thingy
  25. perhaps because he too has heard of this theft and machines theyve used other than on this forum?! news travels fast in the arb world, not just on here!
