  1. diddnt think it was relevant as was wanting to know of outlets for such wood! customer told me of a 50x50cm cube of burr elm for £70 from some place that specalises in wood for turning-its that that got me thinking! and i think my avaitar says 'Cambridge. . . unfortunatly!'
  2. did they not include the ultimas time as it failed their sleeping policeman test? it was road legal, but TG rule for the track times is that the car has to be able to drive over speedbumps without damage!
  3. whats everyone doing when they get wood thats good for turning/carving?? told a customer who used to turn that i had a got a few lovely seasoned lengths of laburnum and yew and he almost wet him-self! he told me i should be selling it to merchants (?) normally just give it away, but the prices he was quoting me got me thinking £££!

  10. INVEST in some training mate, or work with some pros for a bit-you'll be amazed at how far you can progress with the right knowledge-jobs will go smoother, quicker, safer, no breakages, stress free you'll get a (good) name for the quality of work you do, which will lead to more coin! you broke the fence cause you diddnt have the knowledge training would have given you! it may only be a fence pannel you broke, but it could have been a green house, car, phone/eletric lines-all alot more expensive training is an investment that will last you forever
  11. run a 30" on 660-perfect, doesnt struggle atall, thinking about trying a 36" dont have a 440, got a 361 with a 18" and a 460 with 25", both cut superb with ease id agree with peter, 440-20", 660-30"
  12. brought a 460 off ebay for 50quid as a dodgy runner(fuel starv symptoms) thought it was worth a punt, got it home, took the top of the carb, cleanded the crap outa the wire filter in the carb, retuned-took me 15 min of basic maintencnce for a fantastic saw! brought a 023 a few years back, ran perfectly, still does just be carefull!
  13. i find the gecko to be anything but bouncy! seeing as most of you hate the M'gecko with a passion, what ropes are out there that are fat and not got any stretch in them? (dont wear gloves so thin ones make my fingers ache, and am not a toddler in a baby bouncer!)
  14. i love my gecko! hate stretchy ropes, and thin ones, geckos perfect for me! that reminds me to get the boss to order a new one:)
  15. not sure about sheep or goats and orchids-fussy eaters they aint!
  16. used manx sheep to keep heathland maintained-worked well!
  17. what sort of strop you using? ive got one with approx a 2" ring around 3 inch from the saw that clips onto the tool caribina which the strop fixes onto the harness use a screw gate tool bina with the screw always open
  18. im full time employed, and not looking to change that, but made a few contacts-3 for places to offload wood, and 1 looking for an occasional climber(cant refuse extra cash with a CC coming!), aswell as an intresting resourse and a free pint at the apf!
  19. i had one a couple of years ago that did crush me rocks, got another now, and its perfect! leg loops arent tight atall-loose enough to just slip in and out of without adjusting atall (couple of inch loose). the elastic from the back support to the legloops ive slakened off as far as they go, and the belt itself(the belt that runs across the back support and clips together at the front) is tight, and wear it across my hips-(not above my hip line like some do) infact same line my trouser belt would hang. this setup for me, makes me not notice im wearing it! hope this helps
