  1. first stand or walk shoot yesterday first drive was crap tbh-farmer had lifted the beat on friday so no birds! rest of the day was good, not a huge amount about, had to be choosey, fair few squeakers-a few were shot had a few cracking screamers stop dead, so was well chuffed:) plenty of drink through the day, then far too much at the dinner, no bad head today though! hows everyone elses season going???
  2. i know a few lads in cork, one runs his own tree firm, if you need a starting hand over there sure theyd set you up, like prev' post said-go for the craic, the irish are up for one hell of a good time, as for the soft southern accent on the girls (drooling) seriously tempted to move there just for them:)
  3. expect to see a few on saturday, first shoot of the season
  4. hedge cutting mewps are the way to go:)
  5. just passed my HGV C2 and think i remember from the theory its any vehicle with the capability of exceeding 3.5 tonnes needs a tacho. also if youve got a post 97 driving licence (tow no-more than 750kgs) and are driving anything with a tow-bar fitted that is rated over 750kgs, even with no-trailer, you can be done for "potential to exceed your permissable weight" what a load of BS, 99% of vehicles on the road have the potential to do more than 70mph, but you dont get done for "potential speeding" ! countrys going down the pan, FAST
  6. me and my manager couldnt stop laughing when we saw it at the show, gave the poor old salesman a bit of a hard time about it then again, i am young without any aches and pains to worry about. . . yet
  7. a mate has the terrano van-short wheel base, few months back, done a job with him, my 046+25inch bar will only just fit in at an angle in the back, not alot of room for anything other than basic kit (046, 026, 020 climbing bag, lowering rope, fuel cans jackets, lids), bounced around more than j-lo on acid when towing the chipper, pulls well, cruises comfortably though. keep with the green oval, disco commercial:) or standard disco with ply-lined rear. doesnt have award winning towing or offroad performance for no reason!
  8. just a guess, but if significant root flares are left on, stacking the poles might become a wee bit difficult for them? looks like theyre wanting nice straight poles. following on from that guess, with a 100ft+ tree, would the time of stripping the trees of the flares first, be un-costeffective as opposed to loosing a couple of foot of timber???
  9. only whilst sharpning the chain
  10. used one for livestock fencing, quarrane was mounted on the front loader, brilliant, and easy to use being loader mounted-had the front/rear tilt from the loader, and a ram on the knocker to tilt if tractor was on a gradient-that had 3strand not chains. simmilar to this: although this looks like a home made jobby, ours would knock sleepers in!
  11. whose going to be the first arbtalk'er to post a shuffler video of themselves then????
  12. could start a pole dancing club under that Cedar curious to know what the benifit of those props would be over bracing, e.g cobra??? or an end weight reduction?? would have thought cobra on those cedar limbs would allow the branches to undertake a more natural sideways, and restricted vertical movement in high winds, allowing the branches to carry on growing stronger??? liking tims yew props
  13. anyone in the uk can easily obtain a shot gun-for a SG licence anyone can say they want to take up clay shooting-the firearms officer just needs a reason not to issue you one-criminal record for armed robbery would be one! its the ownership of illegal guns is where the problems start . . .
  14. hiax are bloody comfy, but having same problem with mine, 10months old, and screwed
  15. i like trees, but im not a boring hippy. . . . why are you walking away????
  16. not really eco-friendly, but stick the chipper on full revs when, the hot exhaust gasses are fantastic at drying socks, boots, t-shirts ect dry feet...lovely:)
  17. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. . . customer must have been blind
  18. how many times did you say 'you must be fxxking joking' 'nah mate, you gotta be pulling my leg' ??? last lot of ivy removal we done, found a ruddy dildo!
  19. wearing the harness properly is the key-i hated the tree-magic when i first tried it as it crushed me knackers so carried on using the old willans for a bit, then had the treeflex harness for a year or so, real nice, still got it as a spare, new employer then got me a tree-magic, which properly adjusted is brilliant! cant stress enough how much difference wearing the harness correctly can improve comfort! the other thing you need to try variations of is your rope-the diffrence between 11&13mm is very noticeable (if only girls thought so) also i soon found i really dont like stretchy ropes-personal opinion! some suppliers will give you a discount if youre an arb student, or if you buy a couple of things at a time, be cheeky, do a bit of teeth sucking, say the price is a bit steep, and see if they'll do you a discount - 10% on £300s worth of kit is £30-3 karabinas!

  21. Always had hiax but are always pretty much buggered after just a year, current pair have lasted 10months and will need replacing before the winter weather really like them though, really really comfy, whats simmilar??

cheers for the free bottle mr Collins & Winger! my manager and a few others, took the pee out of me all day-i saw the timberwolf stand and thought 'i wonder if theyve got that hagguland based chipper still' so i split from the others and go straight to the timberwolf buss to ask, but to the others it looked like i made some pathetic excuse and made a bee-line straight for the TW girl dressed very nicely in a skimpy union jack bikini & hotpants thank-you TW
  23. customer last week had two pups for sale, father regestered, mother not, both purebreeds though, as no papers the dog pup was £200, bitch pup £250 13weeks old, in histon, near cambridge if youre intrested?
