  1. How did you get on with the both? I had a look at the husky but it looked a bit clunky. The Stihl actually looked and felt better than the pictures. Be keen to hear what you think Drew.
  2. Local Stihl dealer had the new 201t in a couple of weeks ago so they are obviously now available.
  3. Liverpool supporter through and through here.
  4. Nice comeback Dadio.

  6. I know nothing about the two pairs you mentioned but for my money I'd be buying a pair of Meindle airstreams.
  7. For climbing or just for ground work?
  8. another here I'm afraid that will just carry on as per usual. It's not that I don't feel any sympathy etc but I am a completely unemotional person due to various things that went on in my childhood. I generally tend to be hard nosed and tuck everything away. I do, however, intend to visit the site when I'm hopefully in NY next year and I'll probably drop a flower off at the site.
  9. Not sure if I'd be eating anything that grows on a tree near a septic tank. I might be wrong but I believe that ecoli etc can be a major problem with any rubbish resulting from a carnivorous diet.
  10. Unfortunately we all make mistakes. I'm sure many of us on here have taken too much out of a tree or not pruned it correctly in the eyes of the tree owner. I know I've had the odd one or several where the land owner has one idea and has not conveyed that idea correctly only for me to get the pruning entirely wrong (correct in my eyes though). What counts is the grovelling and after care when something does go wrong. Suck it up even if it costs but let's not hang everyone for a simple mistake, they do happen from time to tme.
  11. Similar situation here last week but put down to negligence. Brand new MS200, less than an hours work on the clock. The new trainees get to do the maintenance every evening when we get back to the yard. One of them didn't locate the air filter cover properly before turning the lock cover so forced it. Obviously didn't fit properly so forced it a couple of times more until a peice of the hardened steel locater broke off. Choke wasn't on and the broken bit was left to rattle around and drop down into the piston. Rattle rattle BANG! At least I'm assuming that's what happened. Not overly impressed but apperently one of the guys had been on a "chainsaw course" so knew how to carry out basic maintenance. Now I have to go back to the very beginnning as far as training is concerned and make sure everything is done properly.
  12. Paper round pay day = The Beano, packet of monster munch or KP space invaders (cheap and nasty 5p crisps) quarter of acid drops (not the poxy sugary rubbish of today) or a packet of spangles, maybe a curlywurly (proper chokablocka size) and the rest went in the little penny machine out front of the news agents.
  13. You mean like this?
  14. If we are diversifying from chocolate; SPANGLES!!!!!
  15. Was that a hint of sarcasm there Adam? I don't know the outfit but apparently the ads have been running none stop up here.
  16. There's currently a radio ad running for an outfit in Ch'ch for arborists. $60k per year plus bonuses, medical and relocation fees. I'll try and get some more details.
  17. Couldn't agree more. I like the Rangeys and the new Disco but it seems that LR are going away from the work horse these days. The new evoque is no Rangey, more just a pose mobile, and if this is what LR are going to throw out as the new model work horse there'll be more people looking at landcruisers etc I reckon.
  18. Stoked with it Drew. Don't believe I use it to its fullest extent like some of you top end climbers but it makes a hell of a difference to ease fo use and comfort up in the tree for someone like me.
  19. I have a skylotec, which I have no problems with at all and find really comfy but I just recently purchased a treemotion and there's no comparison once you're in the tree.Bite the bullet and shell out the cash for the motion, you won't regret it.
  20. That's cos they've all moved up here.
  21. Rob, what camera did you use for those piccies and did you use any particular settings or just in "point and shoot" mode?
  22. Smug mode.
  23. As per Adam; if his kit is good stuff he's better to bring it with him. Gear is expensive over here and although you'll get some provided by the company much of it won't be top of the line stuff. He does realize that Christchurch is currently having somewhat of an earthquake problem doesn't he?
  24. Keep checking Buy online and sell with NZ's #1 auction & classifieds site | Trade Me there's always jobs cropping up on there. Just search under jobs and put arborist as your key word.
