  1. I hope the aformentioned Saxo fairy didn't pass you and stranded dead duck laughing gleefully? Could have been a tad embarressing unfortunately.
  2. As above. I decided to stick some in the wood pile after reading that it actually made half decent firewood. Makes fantastic kindling, splits easy, dries quick and is great just to get that bit of heat in the fire ready for some really good stuff. I'd have no qualms about putting a bit more in the pile for next year.
  3. I was more interested in seeing the Tongans give it to the French. Looking forward to the knockout stages now to see if we get any decent running rugby.
  4. Adam, you get it from treetools? I've been looking at these things for a while but not sure whether they're worth the money. More for ease of use than any fancy and technical stuff.
  5. That's quite outstanding.
  6. Why is it everytime I see a Dadio video I expect to see some vitreolic abuse directed his way over various things. Sure, pick apart the health and safety if needs be but does it have to get so personal? As for the chainsaw trousers; when I worked in Oz they weren't required for a climber and when I first started out in the UK many moons ago they weren't standard PPE either. Different strokes for different folks. Many on here have moaned about the nanny state mentality and lack of ability to use common sense in this day and age. If Dadio slices his leg off that's his problem and he's too blame. I hope Dadio keeps posting his videos as at least they show how someone else carries out tree work and it encourages discussion on the topic and I also hope that some people can manage to keep some of the personal stuff in check for once.
  7. 65 foot truck mounted cherry picker Adam. 3 Hours job done.
  8. I'll second Rover's with a and a
  9. When we bought the new bandit chipper the bandit dealers are also the dealers for these things. They tried to tell me how good they were but once I pointed out the size of stuff we could cut with the MS200 and the sort of work it would see, along with the hassles of having the battery backpack along with all your climbing gear, they realised the issues in trying to sell it to arborists. They'd be fine for orchard work off ladders etc or for large gardens but not for an arb outfit or medium heavy duty use.
  10. Just to step back in to the conversation here; I don't have too much of a problem with people who's spelling or grammar isn't great. Lord knows, mine isn't always smack on. I know a few people who left school early to go and earn a living so their reading and writing is good enough to get by but no greater. One particular individual has been consistantly world champion in his profession but yet never finished his schooling and isn't that well spoken (although when he says something he is big enough to ensure you listen). I also have a cousin who is dyslexic so understand that particular issue. What does press my cider is people who can spell and punctuate properly but insist on text speak in emails on forums etc. Just a bug bear of mine which is why I keep mentioning it but it just makes stuff so hard to read that I give up.
  11. Even worse when you have to remove a gnarly old Macrocapa hedge that replaced a post and wire fence that was never removed. buried in the middle of the hedge you find sprung steel wire, metal waratahs, broken bottles, old toilet paper and faeces along with lots of other semi rotten rubbish. I avoid those jobs like the plague these days.
  12. At least I got the gist of what they were on about. Text speak is way more difficult to follow; even worse when used on a forum.
  13. Nice find Drew. Look a bit like the sundew. Can't wait to see the bug photos on your next trip.
  14. That's my fat old ass in the pictures Adam. The wife was taking the pictures.
  15. Fortunately no clean up on this one. The local farm managers turned up with tractor and chainsaw and did all that for me.
  16. Working on my birthday AGAIN!
  17. Pumice stone. Also works well for finding embedded thorns, getting glue off etc.
  18. In my opinion; too many people with feet firmly embedded under work desk, unwilling to look at options other than felling said tree bacause that involves doing something for their wage other than keeping that spot under previously mentioned desk, warm. Pipe and slippers brigade. Seen lots of them through the years. Get to a stage where it's just way too difficult to actually do their job and way to difficult for their managers to actually make them do there job because they also have their feet under the desk. I could be wrong though.
  19. As per the above. Bark Chip is used heaps over here mainly by landscapers and council crews on planting beds. Mainly Pine bark which never seems to break down and has no weight to it so rarely acts as a mulch. It seems to be more for aesthetic purposes than anything else.
  20. Flukey it may or may not have been but it's the result that counts and we won
  21. Liverpool in terminal decline?????? Coming from an Arsenal fan??????
  22. Don't care, we're top at the moment.
  23. That's cheered me up a bit after our 4-0 thumping at the hands of Spurs (dodgy ref guv, honestly).
  24. Pick all the seeds out, clean it disinfect it and you should be right.
