  1. Sounds like more than a tip to me. Tip, bud, leaf, the whole shebang
  2. Meindles. Waterproof, warm and comfy.
  3. Agreed. Haven't tried the Strecth Airs yet but the SiP progress are pretty good and damn comfy.
  4. Not sure about forestry boots. Both the Air Tirrols and the Meindles are excellent boots, the Meindles slightly better in my op but don't know if they'd suit for forestry. More of a stiff climbing boot. Having said that I do use the Meindles as walking boots when I take the dogs out and need good waterproof boots.
  5. Don't get much in the way of cash tips but often I'm invited in by the home owner for a cuppa and a feed which always goes down well. Apart from that, and not exactly a tip but more a perk of the job; some very charming foreign ladies are about to start the topless sunbathing season down at hot water beach and stream. No doubt we will find plenty of work to be done in the vicinity.
  6. I was in Loughborough. I used to do a little bit of work with a guy called Keith Wadkin who did a little bit of work around your area. Not sure if you know of him?
  7. Grandad, can I ask whereabouts in NE Leicestershire you are? Sounds like not too far from my old stomping ground.

    Dmm

Bugger! Just ordered my new rigging kit too.
  9. Had a couple of issues over the past 2 weeks. Couldn't even get the arbtalk site to load. The following day was fine then a couple of days later and halfway through browsing it just failed completely and wouldn't load again. I was having withdrawal symptoms. Am I an arbtalk addict? If so, which clinic do I get referred too?
  10. Can second the Skylotec. I also find it easier to find my way around than the treemotion, just not as light.
  11. Nice, I like that muchly.
  12. Never watched it so have no idea
  13. So I'm presuming you're liking the SJ then Adam?
  14. Word of mouth by doing a good job each and every time. Beats all other advertising hands down IMO.
  15. We haven't even begun to scratch the surface yet guys, I'm afraid to say. Just wait and see what happens if Israel decides to launch an attack on Iran. The proverbial sure will hit the fan if that happens.
  16. Threads like this restore some faith in human nature. Big thumbs up to all those that were able to help out

    Sleep

Woohoo slept in until 9am this morning. First time in ages I've slept past 8 on a weekend.
  18. Woohoo welcome Grandad, looks like we are starting to load up on the oldies. Looking forward to reading the stories from your climbing days.
  19. Don't just wear your poppy but stop and think for a minute and remember what was given by others in order for us to have what we have today. Thanks to all those who have served and are still serving.
  20. I have absolutely no idea what this thread is about but reading some of the replies I am left wondering who wears the pants in some households In this house I own the remote controls but we do have Sky in both the living room and a second hook up in the bedroom just in case The All Blacks clash with Downton Abbey or something.
  21. I don't like any particular genre of music but a whole load of odds and sods. Classical for when I need to calm down, Jazz and swing, 60's 70's and 80's depending on the mood and I'm partial to a bit of metal and rock. Never quite got into thrash and most of what I call jigaboo music which is most of the american pop that seems to dominate the charts these days.
  22. Yeesh, don't think mine ever gets hot embers until after I've gone to bed and when it's turned down through the day with a big chunk of gum on it. The rest of the time it's cranking.

    Sleep

Routine and a cold room works OK for me. I tend to keep awake because of repetative noises; dripping tap, ticking clock, barking dog or the bass of a stereo. Fortunately we don't get too much noise here but those noises annoy the hell out of me. Going to get me a white noise machine to help. Otherwise, old age works well. I used to go to bed at midnight, then that got pushed back to 11 then 10.30 and now I hit the hay at about 9 - 9.30. I sometimes wake up through the night to take a leak or because my nose is palying up but I usually still feel pretty good when I get up at 6. The routine thing I think helps most of all.
  24. How do you do jacket spud in a wood burner? Scuse me for bein a bit dumb here but ours is purely a wood burner for heating and hot water although we can cook on the top of it but if you put a spud inside it it would last all of a couple of minutes before cremation.
  25. Never had stitches except in places i couldn't get too (gums and nose). Usually I'm a paper towel, bandage and insulation tape man. I've got the scars to prove it too. Spent a lot of time as a troubled youth putting my hands through windows and just let them bleed. The old man was not one for emotion so I basically got told to take a harden up pill if I cut myself and it's rubbed off now in the fact that usually I just let it bleed until it sorts itself out. Went to the kwaks for a chainsaw cut but they couldn't stitch that. If the wife sees me with a bad cut she just panics so no good her playing nursey nursey at home either.
