  1. Couldn't agree more. I like the Rangeys and the new Disco but it seems that LR are going away from the work horse these days. The new evoque is no Rangey, more just a pose mobile, and if this is what LR are going to throw out as the new model work horse there'll be more people looking at landcruisers etc I reckon.
  2. Stoked with it Drew. Don't believe I use it to its fullest extent like some of you top end climbers but it makes a hell of a difference to ease fo use and comfort up in the tree for someone like me.
  3. I have a skylotec, which I have no problems with at all and find really comfy but I just recently purchased a treemotion and there's no comparison once you're in the tree.Bite the bullet and shell out the cash for the motion, you won't regret it.
  4. That's cos they've all moved up here.
  5. Rob, what camera did you use for those piccies and did you use any particular settings or just in "point and shoot" mode?
  6. Smug mode.
  7. As per Adam; if his kit is good stuff he's better to bring it with him. Gear is expensive over here and although you'll get some provided by the company much of it won't be top of the line stuff. He does realize that Christchurch is currently having somewhat of an earthquake problem doesn't he?
  8. Keep checking Buy online and sell with NZ's #1 auction & classifieds site | Trade Me there's always jobs cropping up on there. Just search under jobs and put arborist as your key word.
  9. Is everybody picking on you Adam?
  10. Besides being not good for you have you seen what those energy drinks do to your teeth? If you drink that stuff every day your teeth will be rotten in a matter of years. They are also a false high. Better like other have said to have slow release energy foods, heaps of water and if you need a quick energy boost either lucozade or glucose tablets or just plain old barley sugar will get your blood sugar levels up again.
  11. What's expresso? I've heard of espresso but not the former or is it just a slip of the tongue/finger? Personally, large flat white every morning but usually just the one a day. I used to have up to six a day but ended up wired and getting some serious headaches. Nothing better than good coffee to kick start the day though.
  12. Got a set of carbons with the leather bottom strap and velcro top myself. They and I are best mates at the moment.
  13. Don't know about in the UK but Treescape over here had something similar for local council and utility companies. as a last resort you could try them.
  14. The finished article apart from a few tweeks. Used in anger for the first time today.
  15. In fairness to timbercutter there's a couple of these piccies that leave very little to the imagination. Not that I'm complaining mind.
  16. Nice to see you got the fine weather too Adam.
  17. Haven't read the whole thread due to my work computer being as slow as paint drying so apologies if this has already been covered. I just read in the internation express that Otters are now back in all counties in England for the first time in years. This is fantastic news and here's hoping that we can do the same for several other species nearing extinction.
  18. The roof of the bin or the cage? The cage is just heavy guage steel mesh.
  19. Or me when my groundy feeds my rope, silky saw, fencing wire, nail, lunch etc through the chipper. I get padlocked in for saftey reasons. Safety of the groundies that is.
  20. There's a fold down section that extends over the cab so you can walk right along the top of the truck. Just made out of the same stuff as the cage. The cage itself is for stuff like spare tyres etc that we don't need to keep locked away. Basically we want to be able to keep all the gear on the truck and not have to unload every night. Big tool box means council has to spend more money on more toys to fill it Adam. BC1000? Pah, we just got our 12 inch drum bandit. Still all spanky and sparkly new. Gets its first workout next week once the truck arrives Nothing like the sound of that Perkins turbo diesel starting up to get the old destruction juices running.
  21. I started out with bugger all. I got made redundant by the big outfit I was working for. I got a redundancy pay out but not much and that was for emergencies as I'd quite literally just signed up for a mortgage the week before. The old man bought me a 4WD and I just hired out trailers as I needed them. When I was happy I had enough work I got a loan from the bank to buy a truck and paid that off 2 years in advance. I did the same with my chipper but paid that off 3 years before the due date. The hardest part is appreciating just how much stuff like depreciation, wear and tear on the gear, new equipment and various un-considered bills takes out of your pocket. Make sure you do your homework first.
  22. Here's our new council truck mid build. Will get the final finished photos up when we take delivery early next week.
  23. Until I gave up full time self employment I nearly always worked on my own except for the really tricky jobs. Not enough work or cash to employ someone on most of the jobs. Now I work for council through the week so I have to have some one with me. Weekends I still work a lot on my own, except again for the tricky stuff. Pretty much in line with Thompsonwoodlands. I have a plan that I need money for so I work six days a week. The seventh is either quoting, working aorund home or slobbing in front of TV.
  24. What ever you do don't get Aloe mixed up with Agave. I cut down a couple of those in my garden recently and got splattered with the sap. I itched for a week and came out in white pustules where the sap had got on me. Awful stuff.
  25. Pom. Moved out here in 98 and haven't looked back. I now have duel nationality though and enough maori tough stickers to almost make me a kiwi
