  1. Just had a guy killed in Rotorua doing exactly that. First Pine he felled got hung up in a second. He walked over to the second tree and put in his gob and back cut while standing right under the hung up tree. He didn't get from under it in time.
  2. Glad you said it first Steve. I was thinking the same thing. Mighty fine looking lady there.
  3. Merry Christmas Jon and a happy, prosperous and possibly cider induced, very hazy and fuzzy new year
  4. Naming the company in honour of your old man? One of the nicest things I've read in a while. Welcome to the forum
  5. I was going to suggest meeting up there.
  6. Come on Adam, spill the beans, where next?
  7. Stopped the Welsh dirty tactics though (not that I agree with knocking the guy out) and laid down a foundation. The kiwis had to put up with all kinds of dirty tactics especially from the French, in the past and didn't retaliate, much to their cost. I found it most amusing reading of how the All Blacks always reverted to thuggery and the list of examples (in a British paper) yet the English were apparently squeaky clean. Agreed with the rules though. Football is pretty simple to understand compared to trying to work out rucks, mauls and what the hell is going on in the scrum. And one other thing people often don't get is the fact that it isn't the All Blacks, coaching staff etc that talk themselves up its always the stupid, dumb ass kiwi print and tv media. Even the public called for the coach's head after the loss to England. Personally I thought it was an exceptional display of running rugby from the Poms. They just need to repeat it on a regular basis.

Awesome and different video. Nice post bro and much respect to Ling. Must take balls and passion to throw yourself into that hard that quickly.
  9. Same in NZ. Doug Fir fetches a higher price than Pine and heading towards Gum prices.Ive got some on the section at the moment ready for next winter. Burns fine in wood burners as long as its dry.
  10. Yet everyone reckons McCaw's a cheat.
  11. My left shoulder is shot. The shoulder blade no longer runs smoothly in its track but rather, just out when I lift my arm up and down. Doing any kind of shoulder lifts with weights (standing or lying down) and the shoulder joint grates, crunches and jolts about like there's no tomorrow. Eventually I got it checked out and had a MRI. It confirmed that my shoulder is pretty much toast but it was 3 to 6 months off work to get it fixed up. I couldn't afford that as I was fully self employed at the time so the Doc sent me to pilates ( my Doc is good with the alternative medicine thing) to try and strengthen and tighten the muscles around to help support the joint. I didn't keep the pilates up for long enough to comment on if it worked but hoping to start back up again soon. Using a hedge trimmer, especially my pole trimmer, at full reach, causes the most aggro and I usually end up with a numb shoulder and arm and pins and needles for days after. I had to learn what things made it worse and try and develop different ways to get the job done so as not to aggrivate it. As for drugs? Sometimes the more the merrier if it's really bad. A decent anti inflammatory and a codiene and all's well with the world. I'll get the op eventually but not just yet.
  12. Names to faces please silky, names to faces:thumbup: looks like one hell of a night. Maybe a good thing I'm in NZ, that cider looks evil stuff, not that I'd turn down a pint.
  13. That's way cool. Something a little different.
  14. Probably kept it simple so far as it's a beginners climbing guide. Walk before you can run basically. Dismantling over a greenhouse might be a bit more advanced and further down the line, especially when some are still trying to figure out their hitches and climbing systems and styles. I think this is a great thread so far, apart from the derail argument.
  15. You wanna put some names to those photos Silky? No idea who is who. And how was the Cider? My mouth is dribbling and drooling just looking.
  16. Well done Mario. Takes a lot of self control to lose that kind of weight.
  17. You figured out where you're going next bro? Whangamomona not do it for you?
  18. You have to be really careful what you use to clean your gear with. Petroleum based solvents are a definate no no as are most others. Read the labels carefully, check what's in them and if in doubt don't use it. Water and soap and elbow grease will get most things clean. And as twisted says; don't use petrol on your hands. There's a proven link ( I think I read that) between oil/petrol etc and cancer not to mention skin disorders. Even truck wash now sucks all the moisture out of my hands leaving them cracked and sore.
  19. Petrol NOT good for sap on ropes and gear though. It also eats through clothing and can give you some pretty serious skin complaints.
  20. Took down some Pines on Tuesday and got gunked with sap so badly the rope wouldn't run through my spider jack. I washed by rope, lanyard and hitch in the washing machine on a warm wash. They all came out spotless. I soaked my carabiners, SJ and metal gear in hot soapy water for half hour and then shifted the stubborn stuff with a toothbrush. Again, everything came out spotless.
  21. Originally the guy reckoned he'd used 100% Roundup with a dye marker but during my colleague's discussions with him he reckoned the best way to make sure a tree was going to be stone cold dead was to mix round up with a bit of Tordon. While he took off around the streets I had a look around the back of the house and it was like a chemical factory there. For saying the house is on a small section there was enough stuff to control a small farm. 2x20 litre drums of ag strength Roundup, Versatil and a heap of other stuff including granular poison. Plan of action now is to hopefully press charges. The poisoner thought it was a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket offence until the copper started to tell him the costs involved. The guy reckoned he couldn't afford the fines and he'd have to be bankrupted. The copper told him that if that's what the judge deemed would happen then that's what would happen. Or, they could come after his wife for the money as the house, cars etc were all in her name. I don't really care. He's old enought to know right from wrong so I hope they sling the book at him.
  22. You can most definately rent a place with a cat Albedo, it's dogs that people have issues with. I moved here in 1998 and I have to say that I'm sick of all you foreigners moving over here. Funny though because we consider foreigners as Chinese, Indians, islanders etc but never ourselves.
  23. Couldn't have said it better silky. RiP.
  24. We think they were poisoned for a couple of reasons; the view for one of the flash houses up on the hill and because someone complained about the leaf litter so that seems sufficient reason.
  25. One of the Pines had been drilled but not poisoned but the other one I think is done for. About 8 drill holes all full to the brim. Idiot got the fright of his life when i started hurling abuse at him. Police were really good and took the whole thing seriously. They put the fear of god into the poisoner. Now here's hoping that the prosecution goes the whole way.
