  1. Id heard if your doing a lot of road miles on a mog with v treads on its worth putting the front on backwards to reduce wear, someone might correct me but sure that's what caprice said.
  2. If only you'd said last week when I'd ordered the 3/8 conversion for the 560xp I'd hav got a mixed bunch for the lads to destruction test on this windblow job we keep scratching at.
  3. No she stops well enough but had to drag it forward by the bottom arms as was right next to that traffic island so would have been a even bigger obstruction. I blame the harsh speed bumps, and a really crap factory weld that's hardly penetrated so was just kinda sat on top holding the a frame in place. Wasn't all bad as just got home to find 2 job enquiries have come off the back of being there.
  4. I had 1 of them as well thismorning Unfortunately while going down a busy road outside a school so lots of spectators watch me struggling to get it off the back and onto the pallet tines to get to the job.
  5. Somebody had way too much spare time that day, she's definitely a good operator and the machine is a really good setup, wounder how it fairs in very wet conditions...
  6. That's nasty, even hippocracapoos and swamp donkeys need loving some times. This me and my lads are going again and planning on stopping the night for a few jars and a giggle.
  7. 50k clucking bell that's going to take some paying back but if it can do the job of a skid steer and a mini digger on somewhere like a big estate I guess it's a good investment.
  8. Hydradig definitely looks an impressive concept in this video, shame it's tow limit is only 3.5ton els it'd be really useful. This little thing caught my eye as something else that is an interesting multi trick machine that if you had 1 and the sort of work that'd suit would be a fantastic little earner.
  9. Just ordered a set of headband ear defs with the the senna base bits all fitted for situation like that and for when I'm in tractor so can still talk to the lads without having to have a helmet on.
  10. Big tree that sam, enjoyed the video and soundtrack 👍 Guess the crane was a time saver rather than a necessity as conventional rigging and dragging would have taken days?
  11. Didn't like some of the heavy branches on the pine tops but the Spruce and larch just got demolished!
  12. On a badly storm damaged site we have been on N off for a few months today to help out cutting of stumps and dropping the odd oversized tree now that the client has eventually listed and got some serious hydraulic power it to deal with the softwood windblow
  13. Started badly with a busted bar but soon looked better when it ment it was time to convert to 3/8ths and shiny 👍
  14. Been looking at the Rico winches and look good for the money with different options like hydraulic feed out and remote control in etc, was talking to a lad who had an 8ton and he was very impressed with it
  15. Hydraulic or pto, recovery type or forestry skidding type?
  16. This I'd rather be in the cab where it's not raining. Tidy job he's done for you.
  17. Wish we had stake big enough to need mechanical advantage to get it into the pan!
  18. He didn't want it leaving high as wanted the logs, going to fiddle it out with a compact tractor later in the year apparently and leave the brash for game cover. Made for a interesting niggle in the back of my mind knowing the undercut was almost back to the main stump.
  19. Good advice, might do just that.
  20. Had a old yellow botex like that set like that years ago, quickly teaches you how to be a smooth operator when your getting bucked about on the king post. Looks a tidy set up.
  21. Big beech dismantle today as it had been severely undermined by the river, most of the crown had to be rigged back into the wood to avoid ending up in what turned out to be quite deep water just off the bank side, client wanted to avoid more erosion so had to go before it ended up in the river and no real way to get a decent winch in to fell it and wanted to avoid damaging the remaining trees.
  22. Get some light guards for the back and extend the checker sheet back over them to avoid bits getting dropped and smashing the lenses, I did 3 fog lights and a indicator before I got round to sorting it.
  23. Think they will only do it on a new rope not a used cut down 1.
  24. That's often my thoughts on it as rigging avoids everything being smashed up resulting in lots of tidy up and often means larger bits can be turned easier to face the chipper and dragged as 1 instead of needing to be cut up. Once you have a decent system set up and everyone knows what his role is and with decent communication I think rigging can actually be faster than cut N chuck an a dismantle, pruning not so much so. I do tend to cut N chuck from the picker but that's mostly as I can get into a much better position for better cuts and to manipulate the brash from a firm stance instead of half upside down in a harness.
